thanks for the compliments guys. yeah the fingerboard looks just as good but its dirty so its hard to tell. the neck on it definately makes up for the ok to average quilt top. It was definately a nice surprise!
One thing I've noticed is that many EBMM necks show a birdseye on one side of the back of the neck, and flame on the other side. I didn't understand why this was, but I think I understand now - I think the necks are quarter-sawn, and since the back of the neck is round, on one side this makes the cut roughly perpendicular to the figure (producing the birdseye) and on the other side roughly parallel to the figure (producing the flame).
Or at least that's my theory.
