I need to get a new amp. As I'm still tone searching. I want to be able to cover three main things: cleans, slightly overdriven blues, and classic rock.. I'm looking for a combo seeing as I really don't need anything huge. My price range is $1,700. But a deal is always nice. I know I want tubes and low wattage would be nice 30 watts or less? I'm open to any suggestion you guys may have. I have heard good things about Soldano any suggestions Pete?

Thanks:D

Top Hat Club Royale, Dr. Z Maz38 Sr., CeriaTone Matchless DC-30 Kit (Assembled w/ tubes & head cab for under $1K), Genz Benz Black Pearl 30 2X12...I'm in the same boat. Although I am looking for a 15 watter or, ideally, a 30 with 1/2 power switch. I'm seriously considering the DC-30 clone. EL-84's all the way!!! Good Luck.

The Ceriatones looks really cool. They don't have any clips though hard to like a amp when all they have is pictures.

Anyone have any experience with Oranges? I've been lurking their forums for a few days.

Hmm. Tiny Terror. I've looked at them alot online I've yet to find a place that stocks them around here though. I'm kind of turned off in the fact that the cab I would get (Orange 2x12) would cost more than the head itself.

you dont have to get an Orange cab though, obviously, i tried a few different ones out- Framus, THD, Laney- all sounded great. I didnt like the look or sound of the Orange cabs. but yeah you cant go past the fact the cab will cost more, but does it really matter? bottom line is the head is so cheap, thats good!

Consider the Egnater Mod 50.
I just picked one up used with the Twin & SL2 modules and the footswitch for $1750.
It's so good that I got in trouble for showing it off at the music store where I work.
Everybody wanted one and nobody wanted any of the amps that we sell.

I would recommend the Laney Chromazone (don't know if they still make it though)....I just recently sold mine to a mate as i don't need it anymore and am soon to buy a house. The Laney bleeds tone, very reminiscent of a Vox.

You'll definetly want to get the Genz Benz Black Pearl 30, or at least look into it. It's a perfect fit of your description of a new amp.
