As some of you know, I was in England for the last 5 days. Got back to Italy today. I went to Leeds to check out the area as that's where I want to go to college this fall. Here's a link to the photobucket with all the pics. It's password protected, but I trust you guys. Will post the password once all the pics are uploaded. May take quite a while, since there are 150+pictures and photobucket is pretty slow uploading lately (for me at least). Feel free to go through the other pics if you wish also, I don't mind.

Beth, read the post. :D
The pics are uploading right now, I don't know how much longer they will take. I've got them uploading in different folders at the same time to speed up the process, but it's super slow. They are big pictures and I'm doing the largest and best quality uploads possible, hence the reason it's taking a while. IMO, it'll be worth the wait though.

Leeds eh? Good nightlife, good shopping, it's just a shame it's in Yorkshire ;) , get over the hills to Lancashire, and see some proper England.

Seriously though, Leeds is a cool place, head north and there's some beautiful countryside, places like Whitby on the coast are great little towns, I used to go there a lot.

Forget the Football though, Leeds United are in freefall, once again, the real United are over the Pennines to the West ;) .

+1 on Whitby - I have a friend who lives there and it is truly beautiful. Especially if you make a short trip over to Robin Hood Bay :)

Leeds is nice - and there are a lot of good places accessible from there too - over the Pennines you've got Manchester and Liverpool, and nice scenic places like the Lake District. On the east coast you've got Newcastle and other... um... nice places ;) and you're not far from Scotland! Overall it's not a bad place at all :D

Can't wait to see the pics!

Eric,
you going to the Leeds college of Music? I was studying there from '96-'98.great place to live I thought. I rented a flat in the Chapel Allerton/Moortown area, which is in the north of the city and very nice and leafy.
And it a real pity what has happened to that football club btw.

No Knucklehead bassfest with Azzy, Trev, dlloyd, oldbluesbassman or any of the other UK guys while you were there?
Nah, I did contact Azzy about it, but she's in London, which was kinda far and out of the way. It was during the week too, which made it even harder. When/If I get accepted and live there, there will be a UK GTG. :D

Why does Leeds look so deserted?
The empty city street pictures were taken on a Sunday evening. Shops closed, nobody working, etc. So that's why it looks so empty. I thought I had a few from when I went on Monday, that's when it was typical Leeds with a bunch of people running around.

Yep, that I am trying to do. I will be trying to live in the dorms for at least the first year.

Hope you enjoy your time in Leeds Eric - I've never lived there but used to visit a lot. Its a great place to live, some great pubs and music venues. Fond memories of the Faversham pub - saw the Clash busking a gig there in the car park back in '85 ...

Big culture shock for me here. Our retail stores are open until 8 to 9 PM here in Kali.

Stores there had opening hours on Sunday till about 5pm. There was a SuperMarket in Haworth, the town I was staying at, that was open till 1030pm on Sundays.

Man that bugs me about Europe. It's as if the whole continent rolls up their sidewalks on Sundays. The only thing open on Sundays in Spain were the churches and VIPS. I love VIPS.

I've lived in Europe all my life. Germany and Italy. Germany, stores are usually closed on Sundays. Italy, stores are closed Sundays (some (65%) even Monday mornings and some of those (5%) all day Monday) and from 1200-1500(12-3) for lunch daily.
