Brent, it is most definitely Translucent Blue - and the build date is 8/19/93 . It was originally shipped to our beloved German distributor. Interesting that it winged its way back to the States!

Dan

thanks Dan!!

well then the story behind it might be true...it was said to be the back-up guitar for Mick Ralphs of Bad Co.....being a english band...that would explain why it was originally in europe!!

cool!!

Newbie wanting serial info..Thanks

I have 2 EBMM Axis guitars

G01587 & G08626 ..Any info or details would be appreciated greatly

Secondly..after playing these two guitars for a bit..Is the JPM 7 string neck as chunky or is it thinner..like the Ibanhads John use to play ?Wanting a 7-string..But not some no sustain thin neck clunker..Like the Ibanhads build...Thanks

Hunter,

Welcome to the Forum!

your guitars:

G01587 - 4/03/98 Trans Purple - sent to Good N Loud Music in Madison, WI
G08626 - 12/10/99 Trans Orange - sent to GC in Austin, TX

The JP7 has a fairly flat neck - not thin. I've yet to hear anyone complain about lack of sustain, but if that is your main concern - fear not! The new F-1's are here with a montrous mahogany tone block. Check it out: http://www.ernieball.com/site/flyers/jpbfr.html

Thanks..I was just wondering..because John has usually gone with some thin profile-necked guitars..When he taught at Focus2 guitars on Long Island he was playing B.C Rich STIII's...Then went to those horrible Ibanhads .I really dig my EBMM Axis guitars..I wish they'd turn the Axis's into a 7-string..with the asy-profile..they'd blow the doors open..Kinda like Schecter going with a maple fretboard 7-string "Jeff Loomis" model...I think with a 6-string bass(Bongo)..If EBMM made a 7-string Axis..I'd be down for at least 2 of them this year alone

Well, I've learned to never say never after being with EBMM as long as I have - so there's always hope I suppose, though I have heard of no plans for anything like that. It does seem as if the 7-string craze has settled down a bit. But to be fair, if you get a chance to check out a John Petrucci 7, you should, in my opinion, do so. See for yourself if the JP7 wouldn't work for you. :p :p :D

I concur wholeheartedly! ;)

And thanks for the DOB on my JP7 Dan, that kind of info is always nice to know, as well as getting direct responses from the good folks who actually are responsible for making these beauties. A much warmer, 'campier' place that most of the other manufacturers forums, where they almost never respond unless it's concerning something negative about their products.
Way to go EBMM, keep up the good work!

ps - that Dargie green should be offered as a regular finish, I missed the boat on that run, and would have gotten a JP7 in that finish for sure. I LOVE green!

froggy, congrats on your first Music Man and welcome! Your guitar was completed on 3/14/07. Upgrade tops usually took a lot longer than standard tops, that's why the longer wait. I trust it was worth it? Sorry, your're probably too busy playing your new guitar to answer--
