I stopped reading the Pit recently. I was forwarded the thread today and got deep enough for Steve to threaten legal action against me. I hope Steve can find an attorney that will accept a frequently declined credit card.

Steve admitted a meth abuse problem to me privately, on the Pit and on our forum publically. He also admitted it to several employees. Our problem is that he also admitted spending all of the Music Man instrument deposits including the Dargie Delight instruments. He would be able to pick up some of the basses by collecting final deposits from instruments not ready but was heading for a financial meltdown. I did everything I could to try to save the situation and make sure you good customers didnt get burned. All the while he was allegedly telling anyone who listened falsehoods about Jack, the team, and me. We all bit our tongues. Not anymore.

Jack was incorrect the original 14 Dargies sat for a month because we couldnt get paid or our correspondence answered. Steve finally paid for most of the basses in one lump sum allegedly from a home equity line of credit on his fathers home. What he couldnt pay for he cancelled....Squids bongo, Franks, and Silvers..... We all had to sit patiently and watch all of the other dealers customers post photos and remain silent when we knew the truth. We also had to sit back and hear how the factory wasn't getting back to him, Dargie screwed up, Azaih put him on hold....To his credit the dog never ate his homework. All Baloney.

I wont even get into School of Bass.......

Now Lisa and Silver....Lets hope Steve does the right thing and either refunds your money or prepays in full the basses to us........The window for Dargie's has been long closed but we will make your instruments. That is what I meant with my post to Rex...."you are in good hands with ballstate" I cant make them for free but I can make sure you get them.

Just so you kids know I have saved voice mails, emails, threads, posts, detailed notes documeting my conversations. Beth has IM's and emails and so does Jack. Dargie too. Im my opinion these would not look good if made public.

I can take it. I dont think hardworking, well intentioned employees sand volunteers like Scott, Beth, Aziah, and Jack need to take this crap any longer. I really dont think you the customer needs to be put through this and I apologize for my part in this.

Sterling, thanks for speaking up. I was hoping you would speak your mind. Its pretty easy when reading both sides to see which one makes sense and which one doesnt.

Well as long as the basses are being sent to there rightful owners. The extra wait will make these new Dargie even more special because now there is a story behind them.

Customers who ordered basses from another manufacturer are in the same boat. Here's some snippets from some PMs I received at the Pit.

I ordered a ******** from Steve last March (2006) and *manufacturer* tells me the bass was completed March 7, 2007. They say they are just waiting for Steve to pay them so they can ship me the bass.
I forwarded Steve final payment March 25 and since then he has told me 5 times that the bass would ship on a given day and that's never happened. I know that you went through a similar situation with Steve not to long ago because I was following the email thread at the Pit. Unfortunately, by the time your situation surfaced I had long since ordered the ********* and paid my deposit so there was nothing I could do except hope for the best (a futile hope as it turns out). As it stands right now I'm out $2,250

looks like I managed to get it resolved. I had everything lined up to initiate a Paypal dispute and also to report Steve to the FBI and the Arizona Attorney General and *manufacturer* let that slip to Steve. He freaked like a scalded cat! Next thing you know my bass is shipped and should be here Tuesday. And I know that's true because I got the tracking number from *manufacturer*. Although I don't know what Steve worked out with *manufacturer* I'm lead to believe he still hasn't come up with the money. I believe he worked out some kind of deal with *manufacturer CEO* who bailed him out. First Musicman and now *manufacturer*. He's burning his bridges fast, eh?

I'm glad I went public at the time, because otherwise this ongoing debacle would have carried on unnoticed by the hundreds of potential customers.

There was already a story behind them. And. it's one that's a helluva lot more worthy to be remembered than this sad subplot. I revel in telling the story of why my bass has martini glass inlays to any and all comers. Who'd want to relive this?

Feh, I say.

Sterling, I am so glad that you posted this...It's time people heard the truth about this guy.
I was always amazed at the blind loyalty he got on the pit. I am also amazed by the level that you and Scotie have gone to, to try and help the people who have been dealing with all this BS. EBMM takes care of it's customers. I'm just sayin

Well, there's a hell of a lot more to it, but I understand the position you're in. Just know that I - and everyone else involved - would have continued to keep our mouths shut had it not been for the completely self-serving BS posted elsewhere about this situation.

If there's anything I can do for you, let me know.

Jack
