If I had a forum with rapidly declining participation I would ban the few remaining members. (save them the hassle of having to get the office supply deal of the week or ladies fashions or "O-ring of the month click through club"..

The past few weeks, whenever I went to the Pit and clicked "New Posts", it seemed like I was looking at the contents of my email spam filter.

I can't totally enjoy my bass till this whole mess is over. But I will say this, BP and company is the hero's here, no BS and they are real. Dude needs professional help, my wife has phone numbers waiting, good numbers Steve!

Jack and BP of all people shouldn't feel any heat from this dysfunctional dealer!

?!?

I don't want to be outta line here. BUT! I thought I was out a bass last fall. I ordered an LE '06 thru dude. Jack did everything possible and above to get me a bass. I'm not saying what he offered, but Jack is held in HIGHEST ESTEEM with me. I felt fortunate to get the MM I paid for. After e-mailing Steve and NO response after he had my MONEY for weeks, I bugged Jack. Like I said, I feel lucky to have the bass.

I could show people here how great Jack is, BUT I dumped the e-mails. He also kept telling me how EBMM is the greatest. Look forward to your new purchase! It didn't come for awhile. I believed what he said. He saved me to the point I'll buy EBMM again. I was so pissed at the time.

Jack went farther outta his way than any one person I've ever dealt with. And for that... Thanks Jack!

Jack was the only one to keep in touch with me and say... "You'll get your bass if I have to...." Figure it out.

At the time I had people dying (friends, neighbors and relatives.. and my mom was very ill!) All I heard was my dad is sick on a message b.

I felt sorry for S. at the time, and now. Everyone was being told the same thing.

Someone used Jack as a scapegoat to get high. That's how I felt a long time ago.

I've wanted to post something like this for a long time, but I didn't want to piss Jack off (please don't use jack off ass a joke)!

I've got my bass, but I really think it would have been tougher going without everyones fav mod! He kept in touch with me the whole time and I was a bastard. Got my money for ever and where's my bass. I feel lucky.

Thanks Jack! If anyway in the future, I'll buy an EBMM bass off of you, again. You are the best ambassador (sic) a company could want. I'm back to work and saving!

Sorry for the rant!, DeWayne

oh man. what a mess. honestly - i gotta tip my hat to everyone that has had to deal with this issue. Pops told me about this a long time ago on the phone - just b4 Balloween and i couldnt beleive it. well, i could, but u know what i mean.

maybe some of this is none of my business but my friends are. honestly the most striking part of the phone call with Pops was how concerned he was. both about steve 's health and the loyal EBMM customers who were getting the short end of the stick due to the problems mentioned in previous threads here and the pit. the man really cares about making sure each and every one of us gets what we paid for (and more).

for the record - ive never been on hold for more than 12 seconds when calling EBMM and its not like i call and say "hey this is phatduckk im a mod - put me thru now". i know first hand and thru my very good friends' experiences that aziah, kevin, dargie and the crew do a damn great job, are beyond responsive and are kick ass people.

just a random example: my coworker lost a screw on his ASS and called the dealer he purchased from to get 1 screw. th dealer got a hold of MM and when we went to pick up the single screw the dealer gave my buddy an envelope that had a bunch of different sized screws (including like 5 of the one he needed) and a ton of stickers etc. this is attention to detail and customer service that is unheard of... he just wanted 1 screw and was sooo stoked when he got a bunch fo spare stuff, a ton of stickers and picks.

EBMM is amazing at what they do and a ton of that has to do with the right people doing awesome work.

when a BUNCH of reputable and great people agree on how a story has unfolded (aka: tell the truth) one really cant take seriously the solo side of the story told by a person who undoubtedly has had problems and has publically admitted them and has also publically keyboard brawled with other good standing citizens in our lil iternet bass world.

it sucks that things ended up where they did and the means sucks too. im sure everyone involved wishes things would have just proceeded in a much better way

To anybody who has been burned by this I'm really sorry to hear the details of whats transpired.

I have had a couple of run in's with Barr over on TB and vowed then never to deal with him. I genuinely feel for anybody who travels the substance abuse road but thats no excuse for using deposits to fund your habit. I always found his posts sexist, and his attempts at humour self gratifying and crude.

It could'nt have happened to a nicer bloke...

So do I, so do I.

In fact, I have hoped that everyone involved here could come out the other end holding hands and singing campfire songs. Some of us go way back. [snip]

To me, this is the worst part of this whole situation. Money and physical items can be replaced but it seems many multi-year friendships have been sent down the crapper.

There is a line from an old long distance telephone commercial that still sticks with me today which goes something like, "What am I gonna do, put an ad in the paper "Friend wanted, 27 years of experience required"?".

I was wondering why I couldn't access the EBMM forum over there for the past couple of weeks. I guess I'm banned as well.

I can still get to Al's Nudie Bar, though. Not that I will anymore...

Wow, that sucks for all concerned. I stopped going to the pit a few months ago, but I had no idea things had gotten so bad. I'm glad I got my 30th before the sh*t hit the fan.

I am really impressed with BP and everyone at EBMM. I'm not surprised that they'd go above and beyond in a situation like this, but I'm very glad to see it. My bass buying has slowed to a crawl, but I know my next bass will be a Bongo. No need to go anywhere else.

I dont really think that EBMM employees are trying to participate at the pit. I really feel that they have had a giant weight lifted from them in that they have had to endure the brunt of Mr. Barr's excuses. I appreciate the support but really wish that it had turned out differently

WHen he removed the EBMM forum a few weeks ago is when I stopped morbidly checking out the the Pit. I really couldnt figure out why he would think that he was punishing us or why he felt the need after all we had done for him. The irony is that I was happy that he removed us as in my opinion it was a sinking ship of madness and misinformation. Also how can you be a great comprehensive bass forum when you remove arguably the second most signifigant electric bass company in history.....maybe to make room for washer and dryer specials?

The EBMM forum has also disappeared again. Amazing he'd call EBMM employees trolls though.

Not really. I'm not surprised by any wide stroke whitewashing on the Pit at this point. But, he actually flushed the forum clean and moved it down to the bottom of "Unofficial Manufacturer Forums" with zero posts. And, then, a nice business like post in Al's directed at ****heads about the new location.

If reading, please go ahead and ban me from the Pit, too. I'll save us both the trouble of me actually going and doing something to merit it. I just don't want to be associated with it in any way, anymore.

I never registered on the Pit and never tried to (never wanted to or cared to), but I'll relish in being called a troll. :D

Whew...

I was afraid something like this debacle would wind up happening sooner or later. Sad to see that it has, but also glad that it's at least in the process of getting aired out and put behind those affected.

I won't bore anyone with specific anecdotes, but when I first turned up around here in 2005 I got involved in a few somewhat confrontational threads with Steve that wound up getting shut down. I was sufficiently put off that I promised myself I'd never do business with the guy, even though everyone around here was singing his praises at the time. Now I feel like I dodged a bullet.

I really thought things were turning around there for a little while. I even made peace with him via PM later on.

It's heartbreaking to see what addiction can do to a person, and how many people get affected by the fallout.
