People are just strange. I got screwed on ebay for a strat neck, I paid £200 and it was a banana. Submitted it to paypal as a dispute and they dismissed it saying they dont get involved if its the condition of the item that is in question.

Since found out its a fake anyway. You wouldn't believe the amount of people that have said to me 'just put it back on ebay listed the same'!

Noo way. I couldn't do that. Maybe years ago when I didn't give anything a second thought, but nah, thats just plain wrong!

for high value instruments, ebay has to be the scariest place in the world. You just never know what you are buying. If I was that way inclined, I could sell fake strats as easy as pie, I was obsessed with em for long enough. If I can do it, and I'm no Luthier, then Im sure many other people can.

Of course, there are still many good sellers on ebay, but when it comes to high end instruments, there are so many that are not.

I was given a peace of advice, and I cant remember where from. It may have even from a film, but nowadays, if I get the slightest inclining that a deal ain't right, I walk.

Not just ebay my friends. The Internet period.

There is both good and bad.

Honest or dishonest.

This alert saved someone I am sure.

Very possibly, but I would hope that someone intelligent enough to play bass, would be clever enough to know that an ebay seller who had only just joined, selling a high value instrument, may well be warning enough!;)

The bidding is funny too:D

Think I'll go ask if I can go and try it out!

If you are 100% sure the seller does not have the bass, report them to Ebay and they will pull the auction.

It is scary, I've sold many instruments on ebay and most transactions are great! The only problems I encountered weren't on ebay but on craigslist and for the cheapest stuff I've sold...people expect the world out of the lowest dollar stuff.

Yep, I'm 100% sure, I've been talking to the real current owner and those are his photos and he's a bit annoyed about the whole thing.

The bidding's going well... £3,100 huh? It didn't get any bids when I had it listed for £700 :)

I reported to ebay, linking this page.
I know they won't do anything, but I'm sick of this ****.

+1. I'm surpised it hasn't been taken down yet. These things usually get removed fairly quickly.

The £1.5k+ bids can't be real, can they? Methinks some do-gooders are trying to scam this scammer. :D

It was first reported to ebay yesterday evening, and I'm surprised it's still there.

I don't know about those bids, it's a very desirable bass... people were falling overthemselves to make me offers of £650 when I sold it.

Well one person was...

...well, he offered me £650 and was willing to wait two weeks to see if I could could get a better price for it ;)

Brings back fond memories of the days when the Kelly clan ruled the earth! Fred, Ned and the rest of the bunch kept people in line. :D
