Dear All,

I know we do not normally get bogged down in politics and religion on this forum but this is something different.
As a journalist this is something I feel strongly about as it could happen to any reporter working in difficult circumstances.
I would appreciate if you just took the time to visit the BBC site (above) and sign up.
The kidnapping of a journalist doing his job is not acceptable no matter what the cause.
Thanks for your time.

Unfortunately journos are not the only occupations who get caught up in these unfortunate situations. Foreign oil workers in Nigeria are regularly shot up or kidnapped for ransom, and being a foreign school teacher in southern Thailand is rather risky as well, just to mention a couple off the top of my head. I'm not convinced that an online petition is going to prevent this stuff from happening.

I know that well....my best friend works for the UN - having finished a 6 year stint in East Timor is now off to Nepal and Tibet, and my uncle was a resident in Zimbabwe.
It might not prevent it but a little support is not going hurt.
