Hi everyone! I've been reading this forum for quite a long time, but only registered recently. Found out a lot of interesting things about Musicman basses, expect for one - Strings Through Body models (except 30th Anniversary of course)

Some models were mentioned on Musicmanbass.org and they were all made for music exhibitions in Germany in 2002

Other links I found were all japanese and they are interesting! For example this one:

Stingray-TB USA w/EMG MM

MUSICMAN Stingray-TB USA w/EMG MM TW (BLK/R)

Never heard about the Push-Pull option for Volume pot (seems really usefull):

There was also another japanese link send by 'novak'

Stingray EX-TB (What is EX?)

And I also found some similar pics on this site:

Honey Burst:

Natural (the one I am looking for!!!! )

The price for these babies is around 2300$ and this is a lot comparing to US prices, but not that much comparing to Japan

Could anyone clarify why Strings-Thru-Body and EMG w Push/Pull options are only available for Japanese market. This is unfair!

The "EX" series were the Japanese constructed basses. I don't think they lasted long.

I'm guessing the EMG and push/pull pot are aftermarket additions.

I remember I actually saw one Stingray with "Made in Japan" marking on the back of the headstock. And I though that it was just "incorect" handmade copy. You know, here in all ex-USSR countries people order cheap copies from the local craftsman. And only the best and the most respected of them recently added the rule not to copy the original logo. All others would write "MusicMan Stingray" on the headstock if you wish.

Check out one of such copies (they tried to make Stingray5 but it appeared to look like a SUB copy) :

nice one!

I pointed out that some "Stringthru" models were mentioned on musicmanbass.org, and it says they were all made for some special music events in Germany. Did you buy yours in Germany?

Hey Mobis,

If you tell us the serial number, we could probably find out the history for you.

Cheers!

mobis, what you have there is a special run we have done for our German distributor, Musik Meyer. Yours has a 2-band EQ, black finish, maple neck, white pearloid pickguard. It was completed on October 10, 2000.

Arf!

Dan

the first owner purcharsed it from "musik produktiv" (a big musicstore in germany) in 2005 NOS! maybe they had some anniversary.
