1/4 mile ET Pete ?

In '03 it was running 13:23 @104.x
http://andrapos.com/340/Dodge104.mpg
I redlit bad on that run

Later on that same day I made some carburetor & tire pressure adjustments and blew up the torque converter when the photographer snapped that pic above.

I have no current timeslips, I haven't been to the track since - I built a stroker engine which took it from a 340 (5.57L) to a 418 (6.85L) and put in a new torque converter & tranny. Based on what other people with almost identical combinations are running, it should run at least low 12s but I wouldn't be surprised if it pulls mid/high 11s with a good tire. Perfect for driving around town :D I'll be hitting the track in the fall.

If I feather the gas pedal around town I get 10-12mpg. On the highway I can sometimes manage 15. Good thing the tank is 16 gallons...

Thanks Fogman,

it easily seats 4, is pretty nippy, has a 100% aluminium frame so its light which allows it to average 55mpg plus it could easily park on the deck of all these HEMI pickups :D :D

Steve

The thing that gets me about all these hyper-efficient European cars is that by the time they get here they're not nearly as interesting. US equipment preferences/requirements and the fact that they invariably put bigger engines in makes our cars far less efficient than the cool Euro-spec stuff.

The Smart Car is going to be introduced here soon. In Europe it gets something like 60-70 mpg. Here it will get 40. With mileage like that what's the point of giving up the hauling capacity?

The vast marjority of my driving is stuck in traffic where a big engine means absolutely nothing. I'd LOVE to buy a 55-60 mpg car with a tiny engine and save thousands a year on fuel (more basses!!!), but the ba$t@rd$ won't let me.

It's that old Catch-22. Manufacturers won't sell this stuff because, they argue, nobody will buy it. Well, nobody's been given an opportunity to buy it, now have they?

I don't know what I'd do with 60-70 MPG. I get at best 14.7.

60 - 14.7 = 45.3 miles/gallon

15,000 miles/year / 45.3 = 331 gallons/year

331 x $3.25/gallon = $1075

$1075 =

Each year.

Any more questions? :D

I own over $10,000 in basses and other musical gear.

The guy in the office next to mine thinks I'm nuts and spend way too much on music.

My car cost $17,000. His cost $35,000. His gets about 20 mpg. Mine gets 30. His car's a lot nicer than mine. Faster. Way sexier. Handles better. But we both get stuck in the same traffic jams.

Who's spent his money more wisely, do you think?

It's just a matter of priorities.

I'm currently driving a 2000 Lexus GS400 with 52,000 miles on it. Nice car, very comfy with a pretty powerful V8, but kinda boring. My last two cars were a 2003 BMW M3 coupe (sold Oct. 2006) and a 1997 BMW M3 sedan (sold Jan. 2004). I miss them sometimes, but it's tough to get a toddler in and out of a car seat in the back of an M3, and the Toyota Sienna minivan we bought with the proceeds from the M3 sale is an ideal family vehicle. I am looking forward to checking out the new M3 this fall, but only from a distance.

thats a 67 chevelle ss396 Super Sport...(name sound familiar?)

my current favorite is a 67 corvette sting ray roadster (name sound familiar?)

Wow....haven't seen this one!!The new Vette's have the classic Sting Ray Split rear window option, I love how the new designers are bringing back some of the classic lines!!!

i'll post pic's tonight of my baby(which has been sold)!!! 1972 El Camino...purchased at the age of 15. It was a 2 + year restoration process for me and my dad(mostly my day, thanks dad)! God I miss that thing.....At the time I sold it I was really into my 1959 Rag Top VW Bug(Oval Rear Window) and couldn't part ways with it....so the El Camino lost out. Worst mistake ever......
