With all the different wood you guys are using and experimenting with for the bodies on your guitars (those BFR Jp's keep me awake at night, and that koa silo!!!!.........forget it! It's just too nice :p ), I'm just wondering, and I am just wondering out of sheer curiosity, it's not a moan or complaint or anything, how come you guys never use ebony on your fretboards?

I just really like ebony. Perhaps a LTD run or something. Or is just something youguys aren't in to?

It's not a your guitars would be better if question. I'd probably still love my JP even if the fretboard was made out of MDF. Well, maybe not but you know what I'm saying. I'm not bitching about quality or anything like that. Just a general wonderingment.

Thanks BP.

Dizzy you are so sensitive...to elephants that is......Image if you treated women with the same concern!

We used ebony on the 10 bfr 20th bluebursts.

Ebony is a pain in the ass and sometimes doesnt adjust quite as easily and has a reare tendecy to crack and dry....

I have a custom 7 string with a gaboon ebony fretboard and it has developed a hairline crack right up the middle from the 24th - 9th fret twice. The first time it happened I mentioned it to the luthier who said "send it back to me and I'll fix it" (he is in Peru). The second time it happened I said screw it, I'll deal. It is awesome under the fingers, but I think the huge climate shift from Peru to CT in the middle of winter didn't help things any.

YOu havent lived until you have had deep fried elephant!!!!YUMMY

Now your talkin' my language..Deep Fried Elephant Jowls are the way to go..I mean..I enjoy them smoked for several hours in banana leaves..But deep-frying..just brings out the essence of the beast .But if you get to any African country during the Pacaderm hunting festivals..which usually run right in the middle of monsoon season..Hunters with black-powder muskets and muddy landsides give the hunting quarry a fighting chance ..But I like to litter the ground with moist prunes with a 8 inch piece of hemp twine running thru it..So theyeat the prune ..and it gets caught in there throat...and you can here them cough & gagging for miles around..Elephants love prunes..little known fact...Well after all the eating you wait..then the fun begins...Head-Cheese making time...enuff said..You haven't lived until you've eatin gelatinous cubes of elephant head cheese...Well..I need to go..Ii think I still have a bag of Orangutan in a duffle bag in the attic..I was going to use it for jerky....later

I played a guitar in a local shop some time ago that was made entirely of elephant and paving slabs... hey that's a cool name for a pub too... or maybe 'The Elephant and Footpath'
