So, on a whim, my wife bought me a new redburst JP6 this week.

Now, I have all boutique guitars; $2600+ handmade vintage Strat style, you know the sort. This JP6 showed up and really threw my perception of what a more "mainstream" company can do! Immaculate fretwork, extremely comfortable neck with beautiful birdseye, very functional trem, great body contours.

Cutting to the chase, one of my treasured boutique guitars is on the 'Bay, and I have a JP7 on order. I'm hooked!

Hi 18watt and welcome to this fine place !

Would be great if you posted a pic of your new guitar some time - without pics it doesn't exist ;)

Have a great time here among fellow addicts to the EBMM stuff :D

Thanks! I'll try to take a picture this weekend. :)

Oh, and I should probably listen to some JP stuff. This may be weird, but I knew who he was, but haven't ever really listened to any Dream Theater or solo stuff.

+1. I highly recommend the Suspended Animation album. If you're into prog rock then check out DT but either way his solo is stuff is mind-blowing. There are also plenty of YouTube videos of JP that rock so check that out.
And when you find yourself able to put down your beautiful new guitar go tell your wife that she's perfect and you love her and you're blessed she's in your life. I think I speak for the forum when I say I'm jealous!! :D:D

Don't worry, folks - my wife is more than appreciated!!! :)

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll check 'em out this weekend. I'll probably start with the solo stuff, since I go back and forth on the prog thing...

Welcome

Rules are Rules

If there are no pics - she doesn't exist

That goes for the guitar too ;)

You may also want to pick up "An Evening With" - Live performance of just Petrucci and Keyboardist Jordan Rudess - great stuff

Welcome. I've got a pair of JPs myself and one is a Pearl Redburst so I know how beautiful yours must be. Mine is a 2004 I ordered after playing a used one in a local Guitar Center. My Pearl Redburst is my main guitar. Shortly after I got it, I sent it back to SLO and Jon leveled the frets and sealed the neck. It's been the best playing guitar I've had ever since.

Enjoy.

Huh? Dude, you're kidding, right? Does your wife have a sister?
I don't know how many times I've dropped freakin' hints to my wife.........I still have to get my own stuff.
I mean, the money would come from the same place, but it would be an awesome gesture if she went out & did something like that for me on her own.
For me, all I talk about is guitar.......guitar, guitar, guitar. What does she suprise me with???????????? A freakin' IPOD.
Oh well.
Enjoy your new guitar.
