Hi all,

I have 2 Stingray 5-strings (one fretted, one fretless) and a Stingray 4-string. Both 5-strings have somewhat lower output than the Stingray 4. I've changed batteries, adjusted the pickups to be closer to the strings, etc. all to no avail. That SR 4 just has a hotter signal than the SR 5's.

Does anyone else have the same problem? Is there a cure for this other than turning the volume knob down on the SR 4? I switch between the two relatively frequently and it drives the soundman (and me) nuts.

Doesn't drive me nuts enough to consider not using them, tho. But it'd be cool if I could fix it somehow. :)

Thanks,

Tom

I have 3 Stingray 4's and 3 Stingray 5's, and the output of all of the 4's is consistently hotter than the output of the 5's. Different pickups, different pre-amps. I think the signal difference is inherent in the design. That's why amps have volume controls :)

PS: Compression helps too.

It's inherent in the electronics.

SR4s are hotter than SR5s. At least, it's always seemed that way to me.

Wait until you toss a Bongo into that mix.

Vive la diference!

What Jack said, If you thin the SR4 has hot output wait until you get a bongo. and you will end up with a bongo, you can try and fight it but the bongo will win.

If you don't like compression, consider a multi-function DI box like a Radial Bassbone. You can plug in multiple basses and keep your volume levels equal.

When adjusting the EQ on a Bongo a little goes a long way. The output is very hot in comparison to any Stingray that I have owned. No can dime these controls..........

ain't that right Jack?
