I spotted Elton John's bass player using an SR5 yesterday at the Princess Diana Gig from Wembley here in the UK. To me it looked like it was Pacific Blue Burst with a maple neck. If so it's the only other Pacific Blue Burst I've seen apart from mine. Did anyone else see it?

I saw it too, Oldbluebassman. Very cool! I thought it was a blue sparkle, but then again, I'm not sure I know the difference between sparkle and burst.

I did catch Elton John when he preformed here in Portland, OR, on his last tour. The bass player played an SR-5 all through the show, until the last song when he switched it out for - another SR-5.

The concert for Diana must have been a great one! They only broadcast an hour of it here, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. With the possible exception of Duran Durans Drummer. Man that guys snare was waaaay off.

That"s our man Bob Birch! He has been a loyal MM SR5 player for many years!

The bass in question is a Blue Dawn 5 we sent him in 2002! He also has a HH in Black,
a White Sparkle 5 and a Translucent Green 5 that Elton won't let him play!

We are rectifying the situation with a Radience Red 5 that he will get for there upcoming tour in Europe, Russia and back to Vegas!

I actually liked the Trans Green! It sold for a while, then dropped off like a boat anchor!

Did anybody see the Vintage sunburst Stingray that Rod Stewarts bass player was using?

In that case mine must be Blue Dawn. Please could you confirm?

What you have is Pacific Blue. No Sparkle content! Pacific Blue and Blue Dawn are similar except the Pac Blue has no metal/Sparkle in the Clear Coat!

No, but I played a fab Pacific Blue Burst/Maple SR4 at Sound Control in Bristol a few months back, so there is at least one more in the UK. I would have bought it 'cept it had one too few strings and I got the '5er for about the same price :D

This was before the Bongo addiction of course...

It is an easy game......I want both of these guys to feel welcome and contribute....but I also think that it is appropriate for all involved to know that I read the shots.......I really would prefer if we teased Jack instead

Jack Tyler keeps calling my cell wanting information. I dont think he understands that I have nothing to do with the actual running of the promotion except for paying for it. He needs to call Brian.

Oldblue and Kiwi are back after bashing me to death on the UK forum.. Lets be pals and talk basses, OK?

Hi BP. My bashing days are over. Too old for that now. It's funny how the world goes around, 11 years ago I bought my first MM, a Sterling, which was my only bass til I went up to an SR5. With my current band I'm back to using mainly a 4 again so when funds are available I shall look for another Sterling. Just love that neck.

BTW Nice wedding pix. You guys certainly know how to have a good time.
