'Just curious how many of you would like to see a Quilt top available on a Sterling?
Perhaps even make it a Dave LaRue Sign. Model?

One of Dave's first Sterlings was custom made with a Quilt Maple Top, and a number of people have asked if this was available as an option, which of course, it hasn't been.

Many other brands offer figured tops as an option on standard models (of course, EB/MM isn't like other brands!), and granted it's an upgrade/upcharge, but I'd love to see it, personally.

Please feel free to weigh in on this one........

Thanx,
BF

Yeah, I get it!

Let me see Beaver wants me to take my signature bass and put Dave's name on it when Dave plays the Bongo all the time...let me sleep on it

Yeah, Sterling, you're correct that a DL Sign. model should be a Bongo, at this point. I just love the old Sterling w/Quilt top that he used to play and saw him as a devout Sterling user until very recent years (enter The Bongo).

Honestly, I've never viewed the Sterling as a "Signature" model (as I do the Luke, Steve Morse, or JP Guitars, for example, whereby these high visibility artists play these models Exclusively), but rather as a model in the MM line that was named after you, although you play various basses. You actually prefer and play Bongos, correct?

'Hope I made the disctinction clear.....

I know you're an accomplished player, so please don't get me wrong on this.

So, how about a Quilt top option for the Sterling? Or a LTD run of them??...Heck, call it a "Sterling Delight"!

I'd take one home, as I have most LTD Sterlings.....

Can one not order a Sterling in natural finish with an upgrade top already?

Ben,
Well, actually, there IS an "Upgrade" available but it's simply for a higher grade of Ash for the entire body. Many of the Natural bodies look superb anyway.

However, you can't order an "Exotic Top" at this time, which was the basis of my idea/suggestion....:(

While I love my Bongos as much as anyone, the Sterling is my bass of choice! Being to owner of the only H/S lefty Sterling is something that makes me go "My Gawd" every single time I even look at, but even my used black single pickup one makes me smile every time I pick it up. The Sterling, and I look at as a signiture model, is the bass of the Kingdom.

Thanks BP and crew!
