They were definitely prototyping in 2000. JP was playing prototypes on the Metropolis 2000 tour. See Dream Theater - Metropolis 2000: Scenes from New York DVD. However, I don't know for sure when they went into production.

The first production JP models were completed & shipped in the first 3 weeks of June 2001.

This actually got me thinking, were the Ann. models allways here? Where there actually 10th and 20th ann. SR4's, 10th SR5's, 10th Morse and so on?
In short, will there actually be a 10th Ann JP?
