Thats a great color on the Bongo. I really hope they start offering that on em. I'd buy one in a second to go along with my other 2 Bongo's. By the way that video is pretty cool, but I don't like how they edited the guitar solo. But either way its still pretty badass.

Interesting pics! I had seen the matte silver in another pic. A studio pic, I think.

John is great!

I really wish I liked Dream Theater.

But it was just not meant to be.

That silver is awesome. I would love a Bongo in that color.:D If I can't get Gunsmoke anymore, I'd love that color in a JP7 too.:D

killer!

I'm not entirely convinced that it's a "matte" finish though, looks like the silver equivalent of Medallion Gold, metallic but not overly 'sparkley'

...the track is cool, but the vocal does remind me of "Persistence of Time" era Anthrax

One of John's fav color's is Silver. I think we will be seeing that again.

The silver is from the "Inca Silver" we used back on the 100th Namm anniversary Stingray bass.(Gavin insert photo here).

Although they were topcoated, John's is a dull rub matte finish.

Let me clear this up once and for all- The silver on John's Bongo5 is a very fine flake silver that we've actually never offered in production. It is very similar to the Gunsmoke finish we once offered, but it is much smoother looking. Also, it does not have the variation in color and subtle gold tones that Egyptian Smoke has. It would be most comparable to a bead blasted aluminum.

The neck on the guitar has a matte clear coat in it, the same as all regular production Bongos. However, the body has a buffed high-gloss polyester finish on it, like all regular Bongos as well. The matte appearance of the body comes from the very fine metallic used to make the base color.

I will say that this particular color requires a near perfect sanding job underneath, or the finished product will be less than perfect. That being said, it is still up in the air if we will offer this as a production finish or if it will be an exclusive for John. Although you may like it, you may not want to pay for it.

Hope that helps clear up the mystery.

Thanks Jon!

There has been a lot of inquiries and glad we now have the scoop.
