well... now im way more involved in the SF indie and punk scenes and ive somehow earned the reputation of being a bass whore.... or at least someone who owns a lot and knows a lot about em.

ive converted a bunch of good folks (and great players) to MM's.

This week my good deeds are passing out loaners. My instructor's going on a small tour with Dynamite 8 (his main band ArnoCorps is taking a break before recording again) and tomorrow he's borrowing my HH SR4 to take along on tour with him. He's an SR4 guy and his sr4 has a zillion battle scars from inetrnational tours and is in serious need of a visit to Jon. he can't quite afford sending her in yet so he's taking my bass to battle w/ him.

im about to convert another local punk guy to MM and, again, tomorrow he's gonna borrow one of my sterlings. its my way of clinching the conversion. His band's awesome and Tim Armstrong of Rancid has said they're the next band he's gonna sign to his Hell Cat records label. so he's gonna get some alone time with a Sterling.

Also... another awesome local band, The Hot Toddies, borrowed my HS Sterling to record their new album. They just posted a few songs online. theyre not the most bass intensive band but it sounds nice.... who said you can't tame a Sterling. check out the 2 tracks "Sugar Daddy" and "the Surf Song" over at http://thehottoddies.fuzz.com/ to hear my HS Sterling. The other tracks are from teh old album

anywho.. just doing what i can to spread the word. i figure hands on is the best way to show them the awesomeness. they always rave about the MMs when they give me my basses back. I always set em up just perfect before they get loaned out for that extra "ah man - thats the best" factor :)

Those are awesome gestures Arin! Out of all your gear, which do you think you'd never loan out?

depends on where its going and who's borrowing it. the 30th sr4 is least likely to get kinda far from me.

all my basses are players so im not scared of them getting nicked or anything but the 30th is pretty well guarded. ill take it to my own gigs etc but people borrowing it is a bit of a stretch... at least till i dropkick it like jack did

There's something about these instruments and this company that turns a lot of us into walking advertisements.

I'm so close to converting my guitarist --- the frontrunners are PRS and EBMM at the moment.

i find this as well and my buds all call BS on me...................they don't quite get it yet.........but are on their way.

theyre good basses man. i wouldnt spend so much time reading, writing, talking and evangelizing em if i didnt beleive in em.

there's only 4 things i like that much, EBMM basses, Tivo, punk rock and OS X.

honestly - i like em. if other dont get it, their loss. im just glad i have basses to play that I have ZERO complaints with.

Well said... and 100% right - their loss. It is interesting how close-mind some can be (like a SR being a one trick pony), but when you can snag one and open their eyes great things happen. Great stuff Phatty (wish I had enough basses to lend out :D)
