I don't think it would be too flashy at all... such a heavenly color!

The sparkles really seem to stand out when there's direct spotlights or sunlight on the instrument. If your church dims the house and puts spotlights on the band, they want flashy! :)

Well, I guess it depends on what your church looks like. I would probably say it's fine. I mean, some churches are heavy on the bling. Come to think of it, some people are heavy on the bling. :p

I have debated about it for a really long time, and talked to a good many of people from church... I think my girlfriend puts it the best, we are bass players, and honestly, most of the time we hang in the back and no one notices us, so the blue dawn should be fine... thus now I have one on order.

is the church really such a big thing in the usa?
it seems that a lot of forum members are playing in a church band.

here in germany nearly nobody goes to the chruch. (exept chrismas and eastern)

How flashy is the sparkle in the BD finish? Subtle? Bling bling?

Very subtle. I've seen metal flake finishes where the flakes are obscenely large, almost like confetti. The BD sparkles are nothing like that. They're tiny.

The problem is that as soon as the congregation sees that beautiful Blue Dawn that there will be some serious idolatry going on! ;)

And lust...;)

Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm the proud owner of a SR5 (natural 1 piece body,rw,black) and a Sterling (natural, maple, tort). I've owned a few SR4's in the past, as well. Can't wait to get a 2007 LE Sterling.

It's not too flashy for church. This guy I kinda know, Jeff Brewer, plays his Blue Dawn SR5 at church, it's an older Blue Dawn, not the 2007 LE - And that bass is awesome, and he makes it sound good too, awesome bass player!

I talked to God about it this morning and He said..."I don't have a problem with any EBMM basses or guitars in church". In fact, He said "I prefer EBMMs". He also said that "If anyone has a problem with an EBMM in church, watch out for that person, because their motives are selfish".

Thanks! Yeah, I've seen some basses that have that bass boat type flake in them, and that's what I was hoping BD was not.
