Man I had a great roadtrip through the desert years ago with this girl ... we stayed at Julia Roberts' house (buddy was house-sitting, she wasn't there) in the Hollywood Hills then drove to Palm Springs then through the desert to Vegas to party it up. Came back via route 66. Ah, the mammories ... er memories ...

I did a great California and desert road trip last year. Started in Vegas, drove to San Diego, went to LA and Hollywood, up to San Francisco, then up to Lake Tahoe and back to Vegas. Good times!

Anyone considered Oklahoma City? I know it sounds like me just trying to be cheap, but it's really awesome there. Not to mention Bricktown :D

And hey, it's in the center of the US too, and it's a pretty clean and safe place.

Hey do both, you're more than welcome to hang out with the Psycho's for a few months. I've got two houses; if you get tired of city life here in GSO, a little Virginia mountain air would do you good! :D

I’m serious Colin.
I'm speechless, that is a lovely offer thank you. How good are the people here? I'll call you...

I love Oklahoma, and Bricktown ROCKS! Have you ever eaten at Zio's?

Come on Sub, take the chance to leave Oklahoma while you've got it! :D

If it's either SLO or the desert, I believe I'm going to have to use LAX. Only LA area airport to which I could get a straight flight. (SD is too far, especially if I make it a trip to visit family in the area as well.)

palm springs is the airline but usually more expensive and requires a connection. LAX is a two and 1/2 hour drive , Burbank 2 + ONtario 75 minutes san diego 2.5

Also Orange County has an airport (John Wayne/Santa Ana) maybe 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours away.

Mapquest says 1:59 from SNA to the Coachella office. 1:42 from SNA to Palm Springs (using PSP airport as reference). Of course, none of this takes into account traffic, most of which will probably be southwest of Corona. East of Corona, I would think it's not as big an issue, but then again, it's a weekend. People might be trying to get out of town. I don't know if it's still like this, but I-15 to Vegas was often jammed when it rolled past Victorville and Apple Valley where my mom lives. Don't know if the same thing holds true for the Palm Springs/Joshua Tree/29 Palms area.

The route that Mapquest is giving me is basically the following:
CA 261 N to
CA 241 N to
CA 91 E to
CA 60 E to
I-10 E.

cool.... I won't be able to make it as it's a busy month BUT my vote, if I was able to make it, would be 'Rocktoberfest in Palm Strings' , BPs stomping grounds and not to mention being able to wrap everything in Kevin's office in saran wrap!!! :D
