Hey,
i played a gig saturday night where the back line was hired in,you never know what yoyr gonna get when you do gigs like this.

But when i got there i nearly died,a brand new trace elliot stack 1000watt head 4 x10 and a 1x15.

no pics as i did not have the camera.but it was great very punchy very loud and my SR5 took seconds to dial in a great tone,i left the eq on the head flat and just pushed the bass knob a bit rolled back a touch of the mids and treble and i sounded class.

Great gig aswell !!!

Still think my new rig is gonna be Mark Bass but i was very impressed by the trace gear.

Great amps!

I am currently amp free :(

Waiting for the new Markbass Minimarks to hit the UK.
Called up a certain London bass guitar store in July before I went on holiday - confirmed the Minimarks would be in store 29th July when I got back from holiday.

So, just sold my Trace Elliot gear, called a couple of guitar stores to price up and order the Minimark - and they are now not due until September - D'oh !

Agreed. When I bought my most recent Ray, I checked it out using the shop's "test" amp, and it happened to be one of the new Trace combos. Knowing what people say when these old-school companies are taken over by bigger companies (never positive), I was curious to find out how it would sound (though to be honest I've no idea what the "classic" Trace sound is supposed to be like). I must admit I REALLY liked the sounds I could produce through that combo. I'm sure this was also down to the Stingray, but I was mighty impressed with the new Trace gear which I'd never seen/heard before. I'd be happy to own one of their new amps, but I already have a LMII, so I have no complaints (and I'm sure it's still much easier to load/unload compared with the heavy Trace).

I'v had a GP11 mark IV, and it was a grae amp, 150W but it was very loud. Almost bought a 1210 combo, but I'v heard Mesa bigblock and changed my mind. Mabey in the future I'll buy TE as alternative amp.

I just saw one of the new Trace's at my local GC when I picked up my LMII. Did not play through it but remembered wondering if their speakers are better than they used to be. Back in the late 80's & 90's when they were pretty big their heads were pretty good, but man their speakers just gave out when you pushed them. They lost all definition when being pushed, hopefully this is fixed by now.

We carry Trace here at the store and I've gotta tell ya, pretty impressive stuff. Although Peavey does own them it seems as though they're keeping a distance and letting the Trace guys do their thing and bring back the Trace name and sound.
As for MarkBass... I've played through plenty and do dig the weight/volume ratio but their circuit still doesn't do it for me, a little too transistor-y but that's just me, heck I still really dig Hartke  (and PJB!!!):D

I thought the "Trace" guys bought the company back from Gibson after the "lease" was up. Didn't they work for Ashdown for awhile? I coulda swore Peavey was just a distributor. Kinda like Kaman and Dana B. Goods and such. I love my old Trace heads and cabs. As noted in an above post, the smallest Trace heads can be a bit much for their cabs if pushed too much. They sound good till then!

peavey owns trace now.. i was at their eu factory in britain on a training course and had the pleasure of seeing brand new 2x10 cabinets being made.. also one of the lecturers was an engineer from early trace elliot days. peavey hired him to do the designs ;)

i still suspect they use black widows speakers in their 15" cabs :D

I also own pre-bankruptcy rig from Trace Elliot made in 2000 or 2001.

Trace Elliot AH-300 12EQ head through 2X10 and 1X15 trace cabs

Speakers were made by Celestion those days, and I agree they just suck...

They sound fine when you don't have the amp loud, but when you increase the volume and put some more attack they loose clarity.

I'm saving money now to buy some 4X10 cab from a different manufacturer, but I will never sell the head because it sounds awesome through other cabinets. I even tried chinese Hartke VX410 and it was much better than native cabs.
