I ordered knobs for my Bongo, which was missing 2, but when I went to install them, there were no mounting screws to hold them on the pots. There are holes there, and every other knob I've ever encountered came with the screws, but these did not. That's my only gripe. My question is twofold- was this just a freak accident, or if not, why don't these things come with the screws obviously needed to install them to the bass (or if they need to be ordered separately, why doesn't CS warn us about this?)? I ended up canibalizing a couple other knobs that just happened to have the right size and right threaded screw for the Bongo knobs.

There's no suck thing as a small gripe on a public internet forum.

What did Customer Service say when you called them to ask about it?

I might be anal, but if I was ordering two knobs for a bass I bought that was missing two knobs, I would specify "two knobs and two grub screws" when ordering parts from the supplier. But that's just me.

I, personally, would have called CS and asked about them, before airing any gripe/ dirty laundry on the forum.
EBMM CS are upstanding folks and have always been helpful.
My experience.

I contacted AJ at customer service about the issue, and he didn't seem to have an answer, so I figured I would see what everyone else had to say. Sure, it's a gripe, but a very small one, as my experience overall was very good with both EB and CS.

The bass I bought was used. The previous owner did a number on the bass, as the volume and blend pots were snapped off (2 other parts I ordered and replaced), and the knobs were missing.

BP, I did by the knobs new, directly from CS. They were plastic wrapped and everything.

I'm not at all getting on CS, like I said, they took very, very good care of me. It was really more of a question as to why the knobs don't come with the screws automatically. Every other knob I've ever purchased that had to be installed like these knobs have always had the screw already installed, which is why I was taken aback by the lack thereof.

WE sell a guy who should have gone through his dealer knobs for an old bass. He emails us multiple times and at least one or two phone calls. We ship them to him. THey dont have screws WHICH IS A MISTAKE. We are sorry that your knobs are missing the set screws.

here is where I get off........ANother call to AJ who only has two hundred customers and hundreds of you guys with constant questions...that s fine that is all part of customer service...(not really but we have spoiled you guys) THe call is "Aj, my knobs didnt have set screws" AJ says " Im sorry they should have Ill send you some asap" customer says " I have two so dont send them"

Then a post on the forum with a gripe that gets a frowny face from one poster.

Am I wrong or if we make a small mistake and offer to fix it does it deserve a thread griping about us?

WE really try to go way way overboard and commit so much time to helping that Im sure AJ feels a little kicked in the seeds over this. The poster never says that AJ offered to fix the problem he portrays him as semi clueless...thats no true AJ is CLueless! JK AJ.

I apologize if I came across as a jerk or something... that was not my intent at all. I did talk to AJ on the phone when I placed the order, which is what I thought was the best course of action. I've not dealt with a dealer other than GC, and I emailed CS asking what the best way to order the parts would be. AJ answered and said to call him and he'd take care of me, which he did (very well). I assumed that a dealer might not be able to order the pots I needed, so CS was the next best bet. I got all the parts very very quickly, and was able to get the Bongo up and running shortly thereafter. I emailed AJ after the fact just to see what was up, and IIRC he wasn't sure (in fact here is his exact quote via email: "I'm glad you got the parts in time! I'm not sure about those holes in
the knobs. It's been a while since I've done work on Bongo electronics.
Do the knobs fit snuggly and stay on?"). That was that. I didn't feel it was necessary to bother them with my little problem, as I'm sure they have a million other things on their plate. My whole point of posting this in the forum was to see if this was something normal or if I had an unusual experience. Like I've said many times, AJ at CS took extremely good care of me and went above and beyond what he had to to get the parts to me in a timely manner. I have no problem whatsoever with AJ or CS, in fact I think they're some of the best I've ever dealt with, ever.

I was simply pointing out that I ordered a part from the factory, and I expected to get the screw and the knob, not just the knob. Like I said, I've ordered many other knobs from other places, and they always came with the mounting screw. In my head, it was simply something I became accustomed to, I suppose. I wanted to see if this was a mistake on my part by not ordering the screws, or if they were supposed to come with the knobs, like every other one I've ordered, and they weren't included by accident. That's it. I posted to see if anyone else had ordered the same thing and what they got, to further narrow down what happened. It was a very, very very miniscule gripe to begin with, and I don't want to start a war or anything, especially over something so small and stupid. If my original post came across as something else, I am sorry.

Here is the email I sent AJ (I didn't call him, my fault, didn't have time):

AJ,

Hey bro, thanks a ton for shipping the knobs and pots so quickly... I was
able to fix the bass last night and it's killer! I think I found my new #1!

I had a couple more questions-

First, when I went to install the knobs last night, I found there was a hole
for a mounting screw, but no screw... is that something I need to specify if
I ever need anything in the future. It just seemed kind of odd to me!...

To which AJ replied:

Hey Nick

I'm glad you got the parts in time! I'm not sure about those holes in
the knobs. It's been a while since I've done work on Bongo electronics.
Do the knobs fit snuggly and stay on?

To which I replied:

The knobs are the type that are held on by the screw that is in the side of
the knob, if that makes sense. I had a few knobs I wasn't using that
happened to use the same size screws, otherwise, I'd be searching my local
hardware store! Thans for the heads-up on the case. I'll look for a local
dealer. Thanks!

I am not blasting AJ whatsoever, he was awesome. There was no mention of sending any screws, as I wasn't sure (and I'm not sure AJ was sure either) if it was my mistake or if they simply weren't included. That's it. I apologize for the gripe, it was stupid. I tried to put it as tactfully as possible, but it came across as something else entirely.
