Bfr... Omg!

Just got back from my local Guitar Center. I got to try out a BFR JP7!! wow, does that thing sound and play awesome... -ly...-like? eh, whatever, I was impressed! It was one of the future 5 walnut BFR's Phil was talking about a while back.

I wasn't aware the the walnut futures would be 7 strings. that's ok, I gave it a good test drive. and the tone was monstrous! beautifully clear and rich sounding, very responsive neck too! mmmmmmm This drove the final nail into the coffin for me.... I've been selling some guitars in anticipation of a BFR, but was unsure what I wanted. This made if very clear.

While I didn't buy the walnut JP7(Six stringer at heart), I DID put some cash down on one of the the trans black BFRs and that Phil mentioned a month ago. It's being shipped here now.... now I REALLY can't wait!!!! I've got BFR on "ORDER"!! WOOOOO!!! BOOYA BABY!!!!

I sold 3 guitars to get the cash for it, but I can tell already that it's going to be worth it!! OH MAN!!! Want it NOW!! WOOOOO!OO!O!O!O!O!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With those sales, all I have left now are EB guitars save from a strat I built myself and a Les Paul copy that I'd probably have to pay someone to take. I only play the EBs I have anyway!! WOOO.... I love my BALLS!!!! LOVE THEM!!!!

Finish doesn't bother me at all.

I am a big fan of that Ken Smith guitar polish, it seems to have a wax-like component to it. It makes the finished neck VERY slick and smooth, like a freshly waxed car.

I was dubious about that too, but have recently been rocking my ESP (also a finished Mahogany neck) and can't wait for the BFR to turn up.

ESP *USED* to be something for me to rock out one.. I think that all stopped rocking for me in 2002... seems to be when I got my first ebmm... interesting.................

I never thought I would say this but I have come to prefer the finished neck on my BFR to the regular JP6. I'm amazed because one of the main reasons I got into EBMM guitars was the feel of the regular neck.

I don't think I prefer one or the other honestly. I don't even really notice.

However, and it's most likely just me imagining things, the neck profile feels a little different as does the body thickness and positioning of the upper horn in relation to the strap.

I'd be curious what exactly was different. If I had the means to really take a quality photograph of both guitars I'd just lay one image over the other, but I don't. My camera sucks. :\

Jeffrey we know your camera sucks! The geometry of this guitar is quite different...no glaring things but it is a recipe of a collection 1/4,1/8,1/16,1/32s 24 PROTOS!

I think alot of it is that as JP has buffed up his arm positions are different and we had to compensate...That being said the guitar I think is more versitle and accessible to more players.

Hahha that was my camera phone, my actual CAMERA (while better) still sucks by modern camera standards. I need to buy a new one.

It does feel different and I agree that it feels more versatile. Once I got used to it I prefer it honestly. It suits my frame better. It didn't take very long to get used to it, it's just a different guitar, so there was a little adapatation.

We really learned and experienced a lot on this guitar. all of the angles and balance points were studied exhaustively.....I have to thank JP for not stopping until he was elated..He was worried about being too finicky and I kept saying...'No such Thing"
