Worked my fanny off for most of those basses too. :)

So i'm looking at going with a Little Mark II and a MarkBass 610. Anyone have any opinions on the Mark 610s?

Sorry about the thread Hijack
When I was in SO.Cal recently, I went all over the place trying out as much mark bass stuff as I could. I have to say the cabs (106HR included) sounded great. I was a little disappointed in the QC of the pots...some have that loose feel (way easy to turn) others were very tight . I though ok, well maybe that's just what they do since it seemed to be the EQ section that was loose and the gain/master sections that were tight.
On to the second store, same kinda thing with the pots, but not with the same controlls, a few of the EQ's were tight (low, high-mid were tight, high= loose) ther rest of them had a smooth dolif feel to them.
Store #3 same thing diff controls than either of the two other stores.
Store #4 Eureka, at last this Guitar center has about a dozen mark bass amps in stock same thing, with the exception of a little mark 2 that one was spot on in every respect.
The sales guy was kind enough to bring out a new unopened (well it is now) SA450 (which is the amp I'm actually looking at) most knobs were smooth as on the little mark2 witha few loose ones.
In every case the knob "feel" didn't effect the sound (that I'm aware of) but I like consistancy in things.
Anyone else notice this in the mark amps?

please..none of the "well if it sounded good why would the knobs bother you" answers LOL.
Honestly looking for feed back from Mark Bass owners. Thanks much.

I saw you ask over at TB. What about the idea of 410+210 or 2x410 or 210+115 or E=MC2?

The 610 is still 100 lbs and it's at 6 ohms. Blah.

Edit: Oh wait, what do they sell in the US? HR or HF?

Playing through a SA450 and 106HF is what first got me hooked on Markbass --- blow your hair back volume, punch, clarity, .... the whole package. The 6 ohm thing is the only thing that bothers me about that cab.

Personally, I ended up buying a CMD102P and plan on adding a 104HF. Same basic thing with more versatility. In the long run the combo will be used mostly as a practice rig while the 104HF will get paired up with one of the tube heads (and maybe a 151HF) for big gigs.

I'm pretty sure from my experience with markbass that it is just the fact that the knob is making contact with the face of the amp, just pull the knob out a little and the problem is solved.

Well, I finally got to fondle & try out a MarkBass head (Little Mark?, I don't know which one actually) & a 2-10 MarkBass cabinet today at our local GC--they finally got one in so I didn't have to drive across Fl to the other coast.

I was pretty impressed & will probably put a MarkBass rig on my short list of things to buy. I used one of the Bongos that they had on the floor. The vintage speaker emulator was pretty nice, but actually I liked it rolled all the way off--but it's nice to have that kind of feature.

DTG, where did you try out the MB?

Over here I can't find any store with them in stock less than 4 hours drive away... :(

I could fly to Dublin in less time :D

Thank god i don't get Amp/Cab GAS like I get Bass GAS.
My debit card just can't keep up with every hot new item in every bass related category!

It seems like as soon as the rig you use becomes "classic" or "famous" enough to make it into a Bass Pod as a digital model preset , there is something else hot and new out there!

Mesa/Eden/SWR/Aguilar/GK...all old news because they've become digital presents.
Works every time!

Then what happens to that amp/cab after it becomes a classic, you ask? It can go one of two ways.

1. Production stops and the used ones skyrocket into collectors items.
2. The company keeps making them, only with slight changes/updates which everyone claims ruins the "original vibe" of the head or cab.

Granted there is nothing wrong with any of this...hehe, the world just keeps on spinning.

called a guy in cork,it was a 3 day camel ride on some really bad roads but got there.the shop he ordred it from does not carry stock so i would have to order in.

Denmark St (london) had a load of MB gear when i was there about a year ago but that prob a 4 hrs drive for you.

the only gear i have seen in a shop was a 15 combo, and it was loud, very loud.

I think i will prob order it from "thoman" and save €400.Its just a pain that you cant go to a store and try it out then take it home!!

That's a real interesting point. So I got this Zoom B2 pedal as a gift. It has the SVT/Hartke/Bassman etc. preset amp simulators. Now granted this is not a high end pedal and I rarely use it, but when I do play it through my LMII, it sounds pretty darn good for the price point.

I think it's because the Markbass stuff is not that colored and can let the presets do what they are supposed to (kinda sorta) do. Just like they let the Balls come through.

On the other hand, when I've tried to do this in the past with the Zoom and also a Line 6 Bass POD through other amps (Ampeg, PV) I couldn't get the same result because of the certain color/timbre that are inherent to those amps.

There's a store in Bedford with pages of Markbass stuff but I don't know if they are just promoting or actually have stock - keep meaning to call them to find out. 4 hours away though, unless I find an excuse for another business trip to Cambridge (or maybe a trip to Italy :) ) Doesn't help you much. Jim_F said the London stores weren't stocking yet but a couple of them should be soon. Frustrating.

I'm actually NOT going markbass for now.

I've got something in the works though. My GK 1001RB-II is staying but my GK Neos are still for sale.
How to tell when your thread has been hijacked:
The original poster makes a statement like this when the whole thread started with a hello Markbass, goodbye GK sentiment yet the next 6 posts are about where people can try out Markbass gear.

So Stanky, why not Markbass?

Yeah, Chris, he sort of went silent on that. I think the GK he has is an awesome rig. Perhaps he temporarily doth gas too much. Stank?

Here's the thing. I'm looking into getting a EBMM HD410 to sit under one of my 210s. Poof, instant 610.

I may still get a LMII. I actually don't want to let go of my 1001. As soon as my GK cabs sell, i'll be able to own both.

Ebbybody hoppy. :)
