 View attachment 3964 Last night as I was getting ready to go to an audition, I noticed the sound of something small and metal hitting my tile floor. I found a screw that had fallen out of my blue dawn SR5 (my sweetheart) Finally I found where it come from. It had fallen out of the tuning mechanism. I guess the best way to describe it is the screw that holds the gear in place. Much to my dismay, I noticed that I was missing not one, buy two of these. I just grabbed a different bass and left for the gig. This morning I ran to Lowe's to find what I needed. A #5 .8 metric screw. The problem is that it doesn't match the rest of them. Not that this is a huge problem. This guitar is about 6 yrs old and has been played almost every night since.

I have 2 questions.......
Have you had this problem in the past, or is it something that I should have paid attention to?

Where can I get the stainless screw that matches the rest of the tuners?

Thanks, I love ernie baLL

dealer first, then customer service if it doesnt work out :)

just make a habit of tightening all screws/nuts/bolts when you change strings.. the vibrations will loosen everything :)

EBMM: The little things matter!

Once again I will say how awesome it is to have a company that cares!
Imagine calling up Acme brand for 2 little screws?
EBMM sent me 8 little saddle adjustment screws that I had stripped (after 10 years).

I love you guys!

First off I travel a lot with my Ernie Balls and it's very common for those screws to vibrate loose, See if they're too tight the tuning gear won't move as freely, so you just want them snug and not too tight.
