Yeah baby, this thing is a brutal tone monster. Got it off Ebay, and it wasn't cheap, but after wimping out on 2 nice ones over the last couple of years, I wasn't letting this one get away. Besides the tubes, it's 98% perfect.

When I fired it up for the first time, it was making a horrible, LOUD hum. I began systematically replacing one tube at a time (first power, then preamp, luckily I had spares), after replacing the 2nd preamp tube, problem solved. I know, you shouldn't have to mess around with something you just payed big $$$ for, but I don't care, it works now. YIPPEEE!!! Here's the pics from the auction.

There's a reason why this is one of Steve Morse's favorite amps (and Slash, and Joe Bonamassa). Soon I'll need a Hotplate, 'cause like alot of Marshalls, this thing only sounds good LOUD. When I can, I'll take some pics in it's new home.

They rock, Bonamassa uses them too!

There's a cab for sale - forgive the hijack and i know it should be in the treasures thread but....

That's the 2x12, won't fit. I'd love to get a matching Jub 4x12, but they're big $$$. For now mine will have to be happy sitting on a black 4x12.

Joe Satch used 'em too, in the past.

I agree Tommy, one of the best Marshalls ever. Very unique, not like any other Marshall, with a voice of it's own. At my last Dregs show I was sitting directly in front of Steve's cabinet, I kept saying to myself "I want that sound".

I'm definitely gonna re-tube, I have Svetlana's in my other Marshall now. For the Jub, I was gonna go with either JJ's or Svetlana Winged =C='s for the EL34's. For the V1 pre slot, I'm gonna try to hunt down a NOS Mullard 12AX7, if I can find one. I'll look for some Tungsram's...are those your favorite pre-tube? How do you like JJ's?

I bought the 2x12 combo version of one of these about 15 years ago for silly cheap. Like less than the price of a Valvestate 1x12.......
Used to use it in tandem with a Silverface Twin Reverb.
And then like an idiot i convinced myself that what I really needed was a rack setup.
So I sold them both.....
I know, I know....
I think I'm a fool for doing it too:rolleyes:

I convinced myself the same thing a long time ago.
I'm not gonna scold you, you've been punished enough. :D

Actually, I hooked up the Lexicon MPX-G2 rack processor to it, so now I have the best of both worlds.

jj's sound generally pretty good. i feel they have a higher failure rate though...
also.....12ax7's are somewhat subject to personal preference. but if you liked steve's jubilee... know it had tungrams in it.

They are great amps. I bought one when they first came out. They are unusual in that they use diode clipping for distortion. Nowadays, some of the more modern Marshalls can approach the Jubilee sound; the DSL series and the JVM in particular. But the Jubilees were one of the best amps Marshall ever made.

really a nice amp. i had a silver jubilee fullstack in the past.
yes, as tommy said, watch out for a NOS Tunsgram for the 1st slot!
as i put it in, the sun rises. it was an awesome sounding amp.
btw. use the amp with celestion vintage30 speakers or better with the old G12H30s!

here is a picture of my marshallstacks i owned in the past:

My friend has the same amp. He is playing in the most popular Croatian band and he loves it.
By the way, he is an EBMM player. He plays Luke and Axis.

Yes, the Slash (2555SL) is the same amp, dressed in black and gold. They go for considerably less $$$ here compared to the silver Jubes. I'm surprised to hear that about Germany.

They are great amps. I've had one from new - well two really 'cos the first one went up in smoke within a week - had it changed for another.

Here is a pic of it - if you think it's small - look at the size of the AER next to it !!
