People can say anything they want. at the end of the day, I believe its about putting your money where your mouth is.

it's pretty simple. if you don't like the tops on the BFR, then don't buy one. and if you don't plan on buying one, then why bitch about it? no one's forcing the BFRs down anybody's throats?!

I think you guys shouldn't get too bothered about what people say. there will ALWAYS be naysayers. but at the end of the day, leave them be. they're not worth the extra strength getting angry over.

IF there's truely something amiss about those tops, then perhaps there is a cause for concern. but we've all seen the pictures, and there certainly doesn't look like there's anything wrong with them.

do the EBMM customer base like it? it seems obvious that they do.

is EBMM doing a good job about these guitars? it seems like they are.

then to me, there's really not much of an issue to get worried about. let others talk. give the BFRs to the truely deserving customer.

just my 2 cents worth.

Well said!
I'll give you 3 cents for it!
Do you accept paypal?

Oo-Oo-Oo Mr Peevely (name that cartoon for a bonus pint!)

Looks like I may be able to tell the impatient UK Knuckleheads some news (rather than having them hassle me cos they are fed up of all the posts about other peoples BFRs :))

Looking forward to it.

^^ On the contrary, I never said you'd said anything to the contrary.
If you read any sarcasm it's the fault of online communication. I was sincerely saying that I am impressed that you remain lighthearted despite the deletion of your post. Which shows, just as your possession of two BFR's does, that you really are a good guy.

Oh I understood your tone. :)

I was just reiterating that I love my guitars. :D

#2 showed up today and it's beautiful. It's really more of a trans-black than a blackburst, which is really cooler for me as I love trans-black :D. Even though we don't have rehearsal tonight I'm thinking about hitting up the jam room just to tweak it to my liking (we all like different setups) and play it loud for a few hours. :)

*And yet another post deleted.

I have to say that given all the talk of the this guitar - pre and post design - I still don't get why everybody gets so upset, on this forum or any other.

From the get-go, MM said they were going to make what they wanted with the BFRs, not the usual made to order pieces.

At the end of the day, if people don't like how the guitars are offered or have concerns, they shouldn't pre-order. You can't get upset about a flame top or arm scoop when you get to play it first and see if it suits you.

For me, it boils down to this: don't try and convince a manufacturer to do what you want them to do. Buy it (pre-order, or in the store) or don't, but don't get upset when you think that manufacturer should be doing something else instead.

For those that don't agree, build your own guitars at a competitive price and best of luck to you.

Wow guys... This is a SERIOUSLY NASTY thread. I can't believe the bile being spewed here... It's unreal! (Not you Big Poppa!)

And the sad thing is that the issue is BEING BLOWN WAY OUT OF PROPORTION!!!
You guys really need to get some perspective here...

We were not "Bashing" EBMM or the BFRs at all! So before you're all out baying for my blood, let me just say that many of us users over at sevenstring.org are EBMM players, myself included, and that's simply because the JP7 is one of the best, if not the best model on the market, and a lot of us were excited about the BFRs. We saw some pictures on the Drum City Guitar Land site, and thought they looked poor.

See for yourselves: http://drumcityguitarland.com/inventory/images/3327.jpg

Now, a few of us who were already users here, came and discussed the issue openly right here on the EBMM forum, and we all seemed to have agreed that the issue was with DCGL's pictures! I thought the issue was done and dusted right there, untill it's seemingly come up again now.

I for one, am certainly not "Bashing" at all, and since getting my JP7 I've been doing nothing but singing praises for EBMM. Every other pic of the BFRs I've seen have been nothing less than gorgeous.

Seriously guys, this is a misunderstanding, so calm down.

Well said Karl.

And I for one am potentially buying one from Pete Dubaldo as soon as it comes in and I actually get to see it, because I have a specific color/wood figure in mind. So I must really hate the BFR's and am bashing them to death.

I can post me and Pete's e-mail correspondence if necessary.

The issue was DCGL's pictures, and I thought we got through it.

Well, I'm sure we'll get through it again. ;)

I did some digging in the other thread, and found the post where I admitted I was wrong: http://www.ernieball.com/forums/392190-post195.html

I read the thread on sevenstring.org.
EBMM got compared to Metallica! That made me sad.:(

The tops are hard to photograph, like this pic of my 20th SR5:

Bilde016.jpg

I've posted this here and on talkbass and people have given nice compliments about the bass, but believe me it's much, much better in person. In real life it's perfectly bookmatched, even in color between the halfes and more "dramatic" in figuring. This is a VERY BAD PHOTO. It's meant as an example of a bad photo incl.the lovely "mirror-effect"heheh.

But people can believe what they want. I know I love this bass. More that any other actually.:)

Amen brother:D I have tried to read through this thread but it just gives me tired head, the only 2 BFR`s I have seen in person have been outstanding, and all the pics are great, and DuBaldo`s shots are fantastic, if you dont like it then just move along and buy what you do like.

Here is the positive that I take from the bashing over there. We are going to photograph each and every BFR prior to it leaving the factory. There will be a thread here where they will be posted along with the dealers destination. If you are interested in that BFR then you will know where to find it...if you dont like it then it will save you time and effort.

i think that is a cool idea anyway...gives everybody some serious GAS!!!

Being a 7-string player, I frequent sevenstring.org on a daily basis. The forum is the best privately run forum I've ever participated in - people treat each other with respect and dignity and there is a high level of "family spirit" on that forum as well (we 7-stringers stick together ya know).

The thread we are discussing here is old news, dead and burried on sevenstring.org... Well, old may not be the best way to put it. But as I recall, it was started a couple of months ago and eventually died. Now: Karl admitted he was wrong - shouldn't that be the end of it?

To be perfectly honest, I will never buy the current BFR JP7. This (luckily) has nothing to do with price (electric guitars are cheap compared to most instruments), but because it has too many features that aren't quite what I'd want... However, if my perfect BFR JP7 came out, I'd buy it in a heartbeat and without ever trying it! Why? Well, because every single MusicMan I've played has been bloody amazing and I trust this company more than any other I've ever dealt with!

The fact that BP is taking this issue so seriously is IMHO the reason why MusicMan make some of the finest electric guitars on the planet - the company actually cares about every aspect of the business... what's not to like about that?

Oh, almost forgot: though I'm not really into fancy tops, I'm really looking forward to the stream of BFRs on their (virtual) way to me. Great initiative and the perfect way to avoid false rumours.

Cheers

Eske - yet without a 7-string Ball ;)

P.s.: I think it rather silly to compare (as someone in this thread did) the top of a $300 Ibanez SA to that of a BFR... I mean: what's the point? The BFR had bloody well look better than a $300 Indonesian Ibanez!

P.p.s.: Looks like I was wrong - the thread was just three weeks old, but on page 14 of the forum (i.e. "dead and burried"). BTW, I posted a piece of info on the tone block, didn't comment on the issue at all and thus am in no way defending myself - just thought I'd clarify.
