I have the ATA Roto Electric Bass Case from SKB.Great product , sort of a coffin shaped hard shell with wheels that you slip your gigbag into (the gig bag provides the padding) . So, when you get to the gig you go to the hotel and drop off the outer shell and take the bass to soundcheck in the bag.I was going to have this very same thing made for me when the Keyboardist in my band hipped me to this. It's under $200 canadian dollars and really tough.

Man I Hope these are better then anything else they ever made, if they don't melt they fall apart, SKB Cases are by far the worst I've ever seen.DJ

Melting...! Where are you trasporting you instruments that they need to be protected against that kind of heat.
I'm not really in a position to judge SKB stuff as this is the only product of theirs that I have ever bought.I will say that it looks to be pretty unique as compared to the rest of the SKB cases. No hinges or padding, recessed locks. The top half slides into the bottom half and locks on both sides, very simple.

I've had no trouble with my SKB Bass Safe (they must have changed the name recently, because it's the same thing as the one linked above), and it's flown around 10 times over the past 3 years. The only watchout is that the lock brackets can bend pretty easily if they take a hit in transit, but they're simple to straighten again. The case itself appears bulletproof, is lightweight, a breeze to carry (or roll) and is a great concept overall IMHO.
