Thanks guys. The track's pretty embarrassing. The drummer isn't a drummer and the piano stabs are... dry, and of course there's no vocal track yet. I've learned to divorce myself from the outcome of what they do, as my inner critic can be a pain in the ass. This tune, even with vocals, which I had in my cans, had tons of room for fills. Like: ok, where do I go now?

Reason I wanted to post it is to show yet another tone the Sil Special is capable of, and the HSS 2 position is often in question, here. This is the tone they wanted rather than something fatter and with more gain. That's cool. For 40 bucks an hour, I'll give them whatever they want. The Silo will do its part.

Amp is a tubes/speaker modded Laney LC50, drive channel preamp turned to about 4, master volume to around 4-5, but attenuated at the guitar volume, set at around 6, tone rolled back to around 8. SM57 angled into the cone about 2" away. Rolling back the guitar and pushing the power amp creates some pretty decent clean sustain, a bit compressed sounding. My Silo sounds totally different too when turned up.

I can't click the link because I am work right now. However, I would like to point out that I find I use position 2 nearly exclusively when playing out of the clean channel. Except for one song where I use position 1, I typically use position 5 for songs with distortion and solos, and position 2 for all "clean" rhythms. I love the HSS config!!!

Yes, bridge bucker split + middle. There's no coloring/eq on the board and no pedals, just a touch of compression.

I just LOVE these guitars. So versatile. I did a purely clean track using neck/middle, and another one, slightly overdriven with just the neck pup, but this is what they liked.

We have a few more serious projects coming up soon (i.e. can actually afford real drummer). Looking forward to it.

Btw, fwiw, this was with the rosewood board Silo. The maple Silo is less "syrupy" through the same amp and settings.
