After selling my Bongo, I needed something to take it's place. It's been an agonizing few weeks while I made that search - eBay, internet forums, and every music store within 60 miles of where I live.

To make a long story short, yesterday I stopped by the Guitar Center in Paramus NJ (Route 4 for you Jersey-ites) and they had a beautiful natural/maple Stingray. It felt pretty light, and sounded great, even with dead strings. Rocco and Jason came up with a pretty rocking deal, and I went home with the 'Ray (including case) yesterday evening.

Got it home, slapped on a fresh set of Super Slinky's, and a few Wonder Wipes later, good as new! It comes in right around 9 pounds on my bathroom scale, which makes it the lightest Stingray I've owned. I loved my Bongo, and will own another one day when finances allow, but I'm really digging this Stingray right now. I was going to hold out for a 2-band, but honestly, this one sounds better than any of the 2-banders I've played. Add that to the classic look and I was sold.

Without further ado...

Nice looking Ray. Just curious, what made you switch from the bongo back to the stingray?

The last couple of years haven't been too kind musically, and frankly, there were too many bad memories attached to the Bongo. In my mind I wanted to get to a simpler, more direct place, so the Stingray seemed like the obvious choice.

Not to say that I don't miss the Bongo. It was just time for something different. The fact that this is a killer Stingray made the transition a lot easier.

No doubt, BP. That four-banger Bongo lived with me for longer than any other bass has., and would still be here if I didn't feel the need to start fresh, so to speak I think my next one will be a single H or maybe even a six stringer. (Or both)

Thanks Guys. It's been a while since I've had a 'Ray, and this is such a nice one.

Scott - I'd love to see pictures of your honeyburst 'Ray. That's one of my favorite finishes as well.
