So, I've got my 2007 LE Bongo 4H on its way.

I went to one of the local GC stores yesterday in hopes of finding a little cheapy-cheapy amp to tide me over until the Minimark is released here in the U.S.

I nearly fell prey to walking out of there with a Bongo 4HH in Sapphire Black with, I think, Moonstone and a Markbass Mini CMD 121P. Hey, what can I say? It's one year, no payments, no interest. That Bongo was great! I also tried a Candy Red 5HH at another GC today, and that had me GASsing too.

At the store where they have the Mini CMD 121P, I nearly bought the 30th SR that they have there. I was trying to have them knock off some $$$ for some fret sprout. Otherwise, the bass was great. It felt great. It sounded great. It was pretty much pristine. I was trying to put together a deal including both the Markbass Mini CMD 121P and the 30th SR. Then, the deal breaker came. They salesman could not find the case for the 30th SR! :( It was an okay deal, if they had the case. I don't know about you, but that's a deal breaker for me. I want the case.

It was a day featuring some of the things I love about GC (nice financing deal) and some of the things I hate about GC (the salesman telling me the SKB case is the case that comes with the 30th SR ).

Anyway, I've got my Bongo on the way. So, I'll just wait for it. I did get the amp, though. So, I'll be ready to rock when the Blue Thunder arrives. :D I'll just need to find another 30th SR source. :D

They salesman could not find the case. . . . . .

Rob, if you go in GC, check in the back, you know right by the bathrooms. If you look to the right, you'll see a bulletin board, and right under that you'll see some "potted" plants. Yes, your guitar case is that pot!!

Unfortunately, GC's has (or had) a policy of using selected premium guitar cases for most all their indoor potted plants!! They feel that it goes with the decor of the store. And, although it may break a deal once in awhile, who cares, they feel it's good for the environment.

Note: the reason set-forth above might as well be used by the management at GC, because it is more believable than the fact that someone in the sales dept. could not remedy a "guitar case" to hold a deal together! How about "back order"; how about a "cash credit in lieu of"; how about "merchandise in lieu of"; etc. . . . .

Yes, even good companies and manufacturers are at the mercy of their employees skills/competency. Oh well, check with Musician's Friend - they have no indoor plant policies.:):)

I got the syndrome bad, BP. Way to avoid paying Koogie his royalties. :p

I think they were going to charge me $200 for the case until they found out that they didn't have it. Imagine that poor bastard with the black SR paying $200 for the case. Or maybe he paid the SKB price, in which case he's really lucky.

Anyway, here's what I got. No pic, no amp. Right?

its 18 months no payment no interest now :)

Uh Oh I'm going to GC on Monday for Labor Day sale, now I know I am going to be buying something.

I think every one of my large purchases has always been on their "take it today and pay next year " program. :D

I just remembered something apropos of the mention of a black SR.

The guy who sold me the amp and tried to sell me the 30th SR sans case said that they got the 30th SR in around the same time they got what sounded like a couple of 2006 LE basses. Of course, those 2006LEs are long-gone. Poppa's right. Black instruments do seem to sell really well.

Congratulations on your purchase, this Markbass is a monster !

I guess being let-handed, I wouldn't let that be a dealbreaker. Us lefties get the regular SKB cases with LE instruments, because LE cases are made to fit right-handed guitar/basses only.

I understand your point though, LE cases are way cool and I would have loved to get one with my 2007 Bongo, but I won't buy one separately.

After all, in the end, it's not the case that you play :)

Thanks. I do have the luxury of walking away from the 30th SR deal, because I know where there are some other ones with cases. So, I walked away.

Yeah. I have seen some there at Beaver's. The question is: are they really still there? I've been able to lay hands and eyes on some 30ths elsewhere, though.
