... what do you use to wipe it down? I've tried paper towels, towels and other things (t shirts).... Some work better than others. I find that I am always getting little lint particles all over the guitar. I sweat a good amount and have to always wipe down the guitars and strings after playing. (as a note, I just switched to Slinkys and I haven't seen how they react to my playing)

I was curious to know what you guys use. I have recently started to use the Fast Fret product aswell.

I use a microfiber cloth with a lot of success. You don't really need to use any type of cleaner with those and they're gentle on the finish. I also use Fast Fret religiously. It seems to keep the guitar playable longer and make my strings last. Great stuff!

just out of interest do you clean the bridge aswell? Do you suffer (as i do) from wearing through plating on metal parts such as the bridge (not on my ball, but other guitars)?
if so do you use anything to clean the bridge free of sweat or just a cloth?

Eeeeeeeuuuuw !
Get rid of that FastFret stuff. It accumulates salty sweat, skin and dirt in it that you'll be wipin' down your strings over and over again.
I use sort of a wet t-shirt :D
Actually just some old t-shirt or towel just slightly moisted with clean water for the first wipedown of the body. Afterwards it is Wonder Wipes time for the body (the polish that is) and again Wonder Wipes string cleaners for the strings.
Before EBMM brought those WWs to market I used to have Kyser products around for that...
Wonder Wipies are so much more convenient !

I do wipe the bridge down as much as possible as I have had pitting problems with other guitars(LP)... Before I became more aware of the benefit of cleaning after playing. My most of the screws on my strat are rusted.

So you guys think Fast Fret is not so good, eh? Interesting... any other recomendations or stories?

At the advice of others here I picked up some microfiber towels, which do a great job in removing smears and such from body, back of neck and chromed parts, and with no detectable swirls or scratches.

For strings, I'm getting pretty hooked on the string WW's. The only thing I'm a little suspicious of is that Brian mentioned on another thread the use of polymer protectants to keep sweat out of wound strings. Maybe he or someone else can explain how this polymer doesn't have a dampening effect as it gets in-between the winding of strings?

That said or asked, I like the feel and sound of strings when maintained with WW's, and I guess that's all that matters.

Hmm, there does seem to be some FF hostility here. Oh well, I like the stuff and have used it for years.

I don't think anyone's being hostile, just being candid about not liking the stuff.

The singer and acoustic player I used to jam a lot with, always showered his neck in the stuff, rubbing it in like baby oil on a woman's back. I'd move away. The very idea confounded me. Whatever.
