Ever have one of those nights??? Subbed for a buddies band last night... if it could go wrong, it did (and in fine fashion). Set my rig up... somehow 2 cables were busted in my rack (took forever to track them down). Then the batteries in my Bongo died... to top it off my replacements didn't fit. My buddies car ran out of gas getting replacements for those (so we started 20 mins late). My strap kept detaching from my straplock button... finally the whole lock pulled out right in the middle of a song. Then my "fresh" wireless batteries died... again, mid song. A drunk came up and knock over my rig (mid song again - but the ass whippin' he got from the bouncers was tremendous). Some chick kept sitting on my pedal box activating my effects. I got hit by a stray beer bottle. It took us twice as long to load out as usual... and to top it off, some asshat charged $285 to my tab (and it took 45 minutes to straighten that out).

Just one of those nights:eek:

Just happy to survive the night. The fun part was coming home... police sirens went off right behind me (I hadn't been drinking, but I did smell of beer)... thankfully he went after the car in front of me.

Wow, that was a lot that went wrong. Sorry to hear it, oddjob.
I once broke a string on a gig. That's my sum total.
Stuff have happened though with other bandmembers. Beerbottle in the head, broken nose, being puked on, etc. but never me. Someone must be watching over me....

WOW! This is an inspirational story that makes me want to gig :p

Repeat the following 3 times.

It's all about the music.
It's all about the music.
It's all about the music.

These are the perks they never talk about in rock star school

There are perks???? Damn, I missed that one. I usually average one gig every other year where it all unravels. My favorite was back in the early 90's when my Acoustic cab came apart. I had the grill off (cause it looked cool) and each speaker was set in its own tube... we were playing sooo loud that in the middle of the show 3 of the 4 speakers worked their way loose and fell out of their tubes - making my 4x10 a 1x10.

Sadly, this doesn't even count the practical jokes my band mates through the years have pulled on me (there are some good ones there as well)

Thought it was about the chicks... no wait, I'm married... Yeah, it is about the music!:D

Thankfully the stuff doesn't happen often (but when it does, stay clear of me )

Bummer. With a night like that you've got to have better luck with the next gig. Most people don't even realize what us musicians have to go through just to entertain them. May your next gig go well.

IF she would have been cute... that would have been okay (all the cute ones were on the other side of the stage drooling over the guitarist ). We'll just say that each time she backed her behind onto the stage I saw a flashing yellow light and heard beeping.

Seriously though, just some drunk chick who thought she owned the place... kind of fun to see the singer boot her ass off stage (being that the singer is a chick too) - don't think my pedal board will ever be the same.

Geez... I would imagine that after the fourth or so thing gone wrong, I would just have to laugh at each additional one. Hopefully you got it all out of your system and everything will go perfect for every gig from here on out. :)

I was rolling all night... that's all you can do. Once it goes bad you've got 2 choices : laugh or get pissy... I'm too old for the later so laugh it is. Well out the door I go for round 2 - I'll let you all know tomorrow.

Well ALMOST a flawless night... but true to form SHE was back - and not only did she park on my board a couple times (she must like it for some reason) but she spilled two drinks on it (no damage) - to compound matters she flashed the band. WHile that is normally encouraged (being the ogres we are - singer exempted) - this was a sight that I wish upon no one. I will probably have to use my gig money for the next few shows to see a therapist.

But tone rocked - Bongo rocked - band rocked - good stuff good times! Now where are those perks BP spoke of??????
