So every christmas i drop by LA to celebrate christmas with my friends and family, i thought to myself, wow, i never thought of going to a guitar center or anything until recently.

Now since christmas is coming up, and of course i'm going there again, i'm wondering if there are any nice guitar stores that i can drop by and play around. My main goal for christmas tho is to hunt down a markbass while in LA. Are there any GCs that sell MarkBass in LA?

and of course any other special places that are Ball Friendly could be recommended by fellow LA knuckleheads! Really appreciate it :)

The MArkBass amps are available at alot of the Los Angeles area Guitars Centers.

But, if the LA you are referring to is Louisiana, I cannot help you there.

Hollywood (Sunset Strip) has (within a block of each other)

1) Guitar Center Hollywood. Nice EBMM selection. Best Markbass selection, arguably. SD800 and LM2, and various cabs.
2) Sam Ash. Lame amps (IMO, I'm not an SWR fan and they sell them like crazy) but they carry some brands GC doesn't. The rudest staff on the block.
3) Mesa Boogie. As far as I know the only MB store. Great amps, not too many basses but they're all very nice and well setup.
4) Carvin store. Carvin amps & Carvin basses. If you dig it it's cool.
5) Various other tiny shops... some cool stuff can be found.

There's also a Guitar Center in Sherman Oaks, which has an okay EBMM stocking (Lots of 4 string Bongos), and a pretty good Markbass representation. Last time I went, lots of 112 combos and the LM2 with a 410 and 115.

Up the street from the Sherman Oaks GC is Bass Exchange, with all sorts of nice expensive gear.

Don't visit Pasadena Guitar Center, it's lame. Last time I was there they had one Sterling and one Stingray. That was it. Lame!

Nice steve, i guess i will hit up the GC at hollywood then!

question// I was looking around on the markbass site, and in the power requirements it doesn't mention anything about 220V which is the voltage we use in Hong Kong.

Do i get an adapter for it or are there any extra work that i need to do?

Just plug it in...it'll work fine. You may have to use a little extra force to get the plug to fit, but that's normal.

to the socket? I'm not sure that would work, it'll just blow the fuse or something along that line..?

USA is 110V and MarkBass is single voltage. If you buy in the USA, you will have to use a power converter (aka transformer); it'll need to be a 220V Input to 110V Output converter. You can get that back in Hong Kong. DO NOT just plug it in with a simple adaptor, you will blow your amp!!!
