Re: JP6 volume control

When I back off the volume pot on my Axis Sport the treble goes bye-bye. Does it do the same on a JP6??

I think that's a normal characteristic of volume pots, that's why some guitars have high pass filters as a feature.

Thanks guys. I used to use a EB mono vol pedal but recently have gone back to the egg by pluggng straight into the amp so the vol knob became real important again. Normally with the vol pedal the vol and tone pots would be full on but now I may have to experiment with different caps or pots.

I ask about the JP6 because I just bought one but wont see it until Friday or Monday so I might wait and bring both gtrs into my favorite tech in one shot.

The treble roll off is not as noticible on a couple of my other non MM guitars so I figured it was unique to MM.

That's interesting because I don't think I've ever played a guitar that doesn't have this at all.

This effect is really going to depend on your setup- pickups, cable, amp. But it can be very noticable.

Often I'll set my amp with a fair amount of treble and gain and just back off the volume for most of my playing (less treble, less gain). Then for solos just dial up the volume and you can easily cut through.

But if it's a problem the treble bleed mod (basically a high-pass filter - cap & resistor - allowing high frequencies to bleed through to the output) should fix ya up :)
