Hi Tone.

Whereabouts are you based? If you're in the UK, it's worth giving Strings & Things a call, as they can give you a good idea of the location of their dealers, so you can get an idea of stock near you.

US dealers aren't allowed to ship new guitars out of the country, so if you're not a US resident, then you wouldn't be able to get one from them, unless it was in person. Still, it's a good excuse for a holiday eh?

As far as a 'hand picked' Axis, I really wouldn't worry. EBMM's quality control is amongst the very finest you can find, so you don't have to worry about getting a 'Friday afternoon special' that can happen with other makes.

Hope this helps. :)

Im located in Athens Greece,

I was wondering about getting one from the states and having my sister ( she lives in Rochester NY) send it over so i wont pay an arm and a leg for one.
The price is like half in the states thats why.

Of course my trip to the states is overdue so i might go sometime this year but i am itching for one soon. Im sure you guys can relate to that feeling! lol

I do see some ones come up on the bay for kinda cheap in Uk tho. Dont know how good of an idea that is. I would consider buying one from a member here from the UK considering most people here should have a good reputation.

The price here in Athens is like 2600euros for one! crazy!! thats over 3500$!!!!!

Can you see the reason why??!

I often wonder why in the heck the prices are so darn expensive over here?? The tariffs cant be THAT much on guitars. Also double that with dealers over here having buying power because of the Euro it should be way cheaper.
Think im gonna make a thread on that actually.

Kevin from CS has put together a great post on the subject of prices, as the subject does pop up from time to time.

As a UK forumite I do appreciate your feelings as to the cost differences, but the thread of Kevin's does a very good job of explaining it all. BP also has put some very valid points forward regarding the costs that the distributors have to cover etc. If you search back you'll pick up some great information.

I am not suggesting one does this, but I am just curious about it. If one does come to the USA, buys a guitar, and returns to his home country, will you have to declare the items at customs thus having to pay the taxes anyway? I know that doesn't take into account everything that necessitates the out of US prices, I was just curious about the taxes. I haven't traveled abroad much, and when I have I never had anything worth declaring.
