Looking at the thread it seems that so many of the really nice BFR's are going to Japan. Is there that much demand there?

Isn't it just that these shipments coincided with when Dargin started to post the pics?

It was mentioned in another thread that yes it is that big of a market. It was also mentioned that before they started doing the photos of the BFR's leaving the shop that about 200 or so guitars had already been sent out....most if not all to the U.S.

Japan is a great market for Music Man, and our distributor there has shown excellent support for the BFR launch. Keep in mind that these are getting spread out to all of Japans dealers, so when you see instruments for Kanda Shokai....its as if you'd be seeing a full countries worth of BFR orders.

Dealers and distributors that take the same approach Kanda is will truely reep the rewards, of immediate sales....and having an ample stock to offer their customers both quilt and flame. But yeah...Japan is an excellent market for us, that has stood behind the line for years. :)

But are the Japanese dealers getting the nicer BFRs, as not all of the tops are created equal? Will that mean that those of us in the rest of the world won't get as nice as choice?

Kevin, it seems that Lukather/Toto and Petrucci/DT are more popular in Japan than here...do you think that drives the demand for their guitars, too?

this ones going to a U.S. based dealer, you tell me how the top stacks up? :) :) All BFR tops are the best maple available guys....glance through the official picture thread, and not one is below par. When we ship to our International Distributors we ship in bulk....close to 100 instruments will ship per shipment to Kanda Shokai. When Dargin started posting the Official BFR picks it just so happened to coinside with Kanda's shipment.....which had their first batch of BFR's on it.

on a whole both bands are HUGE in Japan!!! And that definitely is one of the driving forces, but its a combination of factors. One of the key factors is that Kanda Shokai has supported both MM basses and guitars for years! As you guys know once you sit down and play a MM....your sold!!! So our dealers/distributors that stock and support the full line really do reep the rewards. Part of Kanda Shokais success over the years is just that...supporting the whole line and actively building our Japanese customer base by having Music Man instruments always there and available to pick up and play.

That top sucks!!!!!;)

The bookmatching looks pretty damn nice. Looks like one piece of maple. I'm beginning to like the blackburst more and more.

Kevin,

I must say, great job on your "customer service" skill. You handle these issues very well, and you give assurance to ALL customers on all sides of the globe that they are important, and will be treated fairly (as will all the customers). Some of these issues can be much more "tempermental, than they appear to be on the surface.

I wish all companies had YOU in their customer serivce department!! Again, great job and well done!:)

Hey Kevin (and/or) Scott...How many Koa Axis Super Sport BFRs are going to be built?
And is it true that ONLY MF/PRG is the ONLY place in the US that will have them?

Is there going to be a KOA Axis BFR with the Floyd?
thanks,
Jeff
