Hey guys, I got a gig next month to play in Pueto Rico and the island of St. Thomas, and it will be my first gig out of the continental US and my first visit to these places. Airfair and hotel are all paid, amp and cabinets are provided, I basically have to just have to show up at the airport with a suitcase and my bass(es).

Any ideas on how I should transport my bass? EBMM case? Disassemble the bass and stow it as "carry-on" luggage? Purchase a special case even though I may never use it again? And then there's the idea of a backup bass - I've never needed one, but we all know the one time you don't bring one is the one time you actually need it. But if I bring it I'll need two special cases....

And as far as the places themselves, if anyone has any experience with these places, I'd love to hear it (other than "don't drink the water" that is :p). Any other general tips I'd love to hear too.

As to how I got this "dream" gig.... Although it sounds lame and cheezy, participating in a tribute band isn't as bad as it may seem (sometimes).

Be careful of the areas you go b/c you could easily get robbed. There are some less than desirable areas. Don' t let your bass out of your sight or else it too could be gone.
