I could never see myself going that extreme on the collecting end, like you ernie with so many, but like most guitar players I want a lot of guitars! So if it suits him, good for him.

This reminds me of the guy who goes into an art dealer and buys three Picasso paintings. The dealer says: "You are very strange. Why don't you just get one Picasso or one Picasso, a Matisse and a Van Gogh". The guy repies: "Well, I like Picasso". :)

there's a one man come to Picasso one day, he insists Picasso to signs one of his Picasso painting which he likes so much, after a little chat then Picasso asks him ' What's so special about this painting till you want me to sign it?'.. and he answers quickly 'Well to be honest, I just wondering if I've hanged it up side down..' :D

On a street level, a collector is usually not a player and vice versa (forget about rock stars, they make up the smallest percentage of players). I dont begrudge him or anyone their possesions. If he buys well, they probably can provide a better return than most investments. Especially Les Pauls.

Me (even though I work a dayjob)...Im a player. I can only handle owning so much and I use what I own. I cant stand having 2 gtrs right now that I never touch but for sentimental reasons I cant part with them either.
