Well I took the plunge and pulled the trigger on a Roadking Series I 2x12 Combo. It should be an excellent companion for my JP6 when I get it. I should be paying it off fully in the next couple weeks after I sell my EB HD-500 and my EB HD-410 cab. I went to the local GC the other day (which was having a very slow day) and cranked that baby up pretty loud, and dialed in a really crushing rhythm sound and a nice sweet, round lead tone. I played a Gibson V with EMG's through it cuz thats the closest thing I could find in the store that had high output p/u's in it. To any of you that own a JP6 and a Roadking, how does the D-Sonic sound through it when the amp is turned up at a decent level? I would imagine that it slays. Any input would be appreciated. Pics will def. be posted along with pics of my JP6 when I have both of them here.

righteous purchase! I'm very jealous.

I have a Lonestar Classic which suits me fine. I would love the RK though

Yeah, the Roadking is a great amp, and I'm getting it at a great price so I figured why not just go for it. I've played the Lonestars before and they're also great amps. I'm sure it sounds great with your JP's.

I don't have a Roadking but I do have a Triple Rectifier that I play my D-sonic equipped JP6 though and I think is sounds fantastic. It's got lots of crunch/chunk.
I'd love to hear how it sounds with a Roadking. Congrats on that purchase!

Thanks. I'm psyched. My friend is getting recording software sometime in the next few weeks, so after I get the Roadking and my JP6, I'll try to upload some clips or something.

I'm psyched too..... I can't wait to crank your RK and my DR and annoy the neighbors. 2 Fully loaded JP6's and 2 badass amps. It's gonna be sick... We have to start gigging again too..Hahaha

Congrats on your Roadking!

I just picked up my 1st Mesa a couple months ago (1x12 Rectoverb) and I'm liking it more & more. I was initially interested in the Roadster 2x12, but I was really unimpressed once I spent some time with it. The Rectoverb was much easier to dial in a good sound from each channel.

FYI - If you're gigging with your new amp, you should consider the Roadking 2x12 ext cab, it's one of the best I've ever heard. The half-open, half-closed back is perfect. I picked up the Rectoverb 3/4 closed ext cab (1x12) & it made a huge difference, a much more full-bodied sound.

I'm sure mesadualrec will be along soon to comment as well :)

Congrats. Amps are a lot of fun ... very addictive. I just picked up a Suhr Badger this weekend (little 18W head with power scaling) ... man what a tone.

Like EBMMs, you can't have just one. Crank 'er up loud.

Awesome, Beej. I wasn't aware that Suhr made amps. That must sound pretty cool. I'm definitely gonna crank the roadking when I get it. Once I have that and my JP6, I'm sure there are a ton of great tones to be discovered. Next on my list after that I just wanna get a couple cool stompboxes. Mainly an MXR EVH Phase 90, A Dunlop 535Q, and a Boss DD-20. I used to own the EVH Phase 90 and the DD-20, and they were definitely two of the best sounding pedals I ever owned.

The D-Sonic sounds so good in my White JP through my Roadster that I am THIS close to swapping the SS in my MD JP for a D-Sonic.... Just a superb combination. The SS is smoother, but I like the D-Sonic's bite!! Congrats on the new amp. I've only had my Roadster for about 3 weeks, but I like it better than the Mark IV I traded it for. Yes, you read that right... The Mark IV is not for everyone. It was too tight for my taste. The Roadster just SCORCHES. You should put an EQ in your loop sometime. It takes the rectifier to new heights when you do. It basically acts much like the GEQ on the Mark series amps. The EQ is post preamp in both cases...

Happy playing!

Hey if you ever get rid of the Steve's Special in your MD JP, let me know. I'd def. buy it from ya. I wouldn't mind getting one just in case I wanted to swap the D-Sonic out. I had a Mark IV Short Head when I had my Ibanez RG1527 with a D-Sonic 7 in the bridge and an Air Norton 7 in the neck and it absolutely slayed! Sounded nice and thick, but you are right, the Mark IV isn't for everybody, especially if your playing is somewhat sloppy, cuz the Mark IV definitely isn't forgiving. By the way, what type of EQ do you put in the loop of your Roadster?
