very very nice, my redburst neck looks like that which is why ill never get rid of it. Not that ill get rid of any of my jp's but Bp is absolutely right when he says thats a keeper. Enjoy her.

nah its not a newer one, was made in 2001 way before the d-sonic was put into the petrucci models.

Although you read a lot of comparisons to the two, I honestly think the carve is different enough to feel immediately. The JP6 has a tiny bit more meat in the back which makes it feel a heck of a lot more comfortable in my hands. Jmho, but I'm nobody, so I'll shut up now.

I don't really know a lot about Dream Theatre or Petrucci either... but that guitar looks very interesting... and with a bit of money now coming my way I might be interested in one... I play a Luke and I love it but maybe I could also like something like this... I'm not a speed merchant and I love all the old classic rock type stuff... mmmmm

The Luke neck has a bit more thickness and feels more like a classic neck than the JP6. In my opinion, it's closest to my Fender V-neck Strat, so it's home to me, although I prefer the Luke's unfinished feel. I was lucky and got to spend a lot of time comparing the JP6, Luke, Axis, and a bunch of the other brands.
Since you don't like the feel of Ibanez, I'd strongly suggest that you try to get your hands on a JP6 before buying then.
