Stingray HH Help me... What kind of problem is these?

Hallo,
sorry for my english, I'm writing from Rome, Italy.
I have a problem:
I have a stingray 4 streengs single H. I have recommended to my friend a stingray as mine. He have just bought a beautiful stingray HH.
It sound veri nice, but there is a prolem. In comarison whit mine, the double h don't has the caratteristic sr sound. It have a great "Bang", e beautiful tone possibility. But in single H configuration, Mine has the caracteristic SR sound and the HH seems to not have armonic, and super high frequency.
Whit no amplification the instrument sounds great, as no other. Then I think the wood is ok... But in ampli...ouh.
What do you think is the problem? He has changed the streengs, he has changed the actione and the setup but... The soud is the same... Do you think He has to uphrade the bridge pickup? Or definitively he has taked an awful instrument?
I'm sorry bicause I have recommended these bass...

It can be a number of things and one is this, the woods used on yours maybe different then his and that will make a huge difference, The weight is # 2, if one is heavier then the other that will also be a factor, As far as the wiring goes, it's different due too 2 pickups but his HH has the stock sound as yours does. Hope this helps a bit. DJ

Your friends bass is a 4 or a 5 strings HH Stingray?
If it's a 5 strings or a Sterling then it sounds different, if it's a 4 strings Ray it should sound the same.

What I'm not sure about because of different posting I've seen here:

Is the bridge pickup on the HH at exactly the same position as the pickup on the standard StingRay?

Does the HH also have alnico magnets?

That could also make a difference.


(However, what I found is: If you want that original StingRay sound, get an original StingRay... there's simply nothing like it... )

I 've just found the problem. The bridge pickup has got a "spiral" non function.
If i put a metal thing on the magnets, the magnets near the bridge sounds on ampli like a "pump". The magnets near the neck don't function and there have not sound...
I will repare it and I post for resoult.
