But you have to have an EBMM (like anyone would need anything else), what model would you choose and why?

Note: due to obvious reasons, the AL has been eliminated as a choice. Pick another EBMM model....:D

Super Sport with MM90s and a rosewood fret-board, preferably in honeyburst, with hard-tail bridge .... :)

Why? 'cause of the idea of combining an ash body with maple top, along with the MM90s and rosewood board is something I've been considering for a while.

also, having been a Tele player in a previous life I already know the joys and pains of using an ash body, maple neck and vintage single coil pick-ups.

hope this helps, eh

With Joel there- though I'd opt for a sport (all ash) and maple board as it's spankier :)

(I have one. It's magnificent.)

I'm not surprised....

I would probably go with an Axis Sport with an HSS pickup config with a DiMarzio Fred in the bridge position. It would be a hardtail (maybe) with a maple fretboard. Now as for current prod models? I don't know. Maybe Dudley would design and make me one. Heck Brad Paisley has a Silhouette that has an ashtray bridge with a Tele bridge pickup and a soapbar in the neck....

I'm with Beej a Sport especially with P90's gets you into teleland really quickly.

As an alternative a Morse Y2D with the coils split or with a raised single coil/back humbucker combination can also twang mightly.;)

I know I'm slow, but what are the obvious reasons for eliminating the AL from the running?

I have both and the MM90 is very close to my Tele.

Because of the nature of the bridge pickup itself (IMHO)....

There is a metal plate underneath the bridge pickup that gives it a very nice twang. To my ears, it sounds just like a Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro Tele bridge pickup...

How high, with respect to the bridge pickup, do you have your single coil pickup set?

I think I set it 5/64" bass side and 4/64" treble side from the polepiece to the string when the string is depressed at the last fret. I measured first and wrote down the original specs because the pickups are set lower than that normally and I wanted to be able to put it back to stock.
