Just a thought...but the more and more that I see pics of the Mystic Dream Finish and the Purple Shade that it has, I really wish that Sterling and the guys would make either a Petrucci or whatever in this color. Its so awesome and I'd snap one up in a heartbeat. Another thing that I noticed while checking out the bass central site is that all the older JP's (the one's with the old style bridge pickup) seem to have these crazy figured birdseye maple necks. It seems that pics I see of the newer models, the figuring is not as prominent, no biggie, but man would I love to have a Mystic Dream JP with that kinda figuring. Granted mine isn't here yet, and I could very well receive it with a neck like that, but I think I read in a thread where BP said that the birdseye is becoming more expensive or something? Either way it doesn't change the quality of the guitar. My JP6 will be amazing no matter what. I guess I just like eye candy. :p Thanks for reading my long post everyone. You all rule.

Birdseye is much more rare than it used to be, and you're right this has been discussed before. As for the purple color, I agree, although I think Mystic Dream has that shade so it is covered and doesn't need it's own color!

I saw the total green shade of mystic dream today - made me want that as a color alone :D

But the purple would be very cool too.

And yeah, I noticed recent pictures in which the backs of necks were barely figured. It's a bummer, I hope mine has some nice figuring :(

Birdseye doesn't mean too much to me. Its pretty and all but it don't make the guitar play any better.... Got to remember it is a EBMM. ;)

My new JP just came from the factory last week, and the neck has some birdseye, but not like the older ones where it is completely figured. Either way, it's the best playing neck I've ever played.

I don't have a lot of birdseye on my JP, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. So, I agree with the folks that say it doesn't matter, but, yeah, I would love some birdseye.

Personally, I like the purple too, but I think it's more interesting in the context of Mystic Dream.

i love the mass of birdseye on my current MDJP6, but i know that the one i ordered wont have anywhere near as much (if any) birdseye.. and it doesnt bother me at all, wont change the way it plays or feels..
i too love the pruple in MD, but wouldnt like it as a single colour... actually i love all the colours that MD comes out with... the greens, golds, purples etc.. i played it live on friday night and got alot of compliments on it afterwards.. and people asking what kind of guitar it was... i love word of mouth advertising, it speaks louder than any TV commercial ;) ha they even asked me where my old guitar was, and i had to say i just cant play it anymore, the EBMM JP6 is THE guitar for me :)
