So my long awaited JP6 LE arrives a few days ago, and it's absolutely stunning. My congrats and thanks to the EB team for another winner. This thing has mojo....I just connected with it from the moment I plugged it in. If I didn't want to 'save' it, it would easily be my new #1 (yes, Glenn, I know. I'm silly that way ;)).

Anyway, when I turned it over for the first time, I got quite a surprise. All the plates are different than my other guitars. They appear to be black, textured metal, instead of the standard plastic . I think they add a really classy look!

More pics of the guitar can be found in my sig. So here's the other interesting thing. I was surfing the other day and found some other LE's at BassCentral. Note the back plates! (HOLY BIRDSEYE! by the way.) So what gives? Am I special (more than in the way my mommy says I am)?

Thanks Fing! Yes - definitely worth the wait. It's a thing of beauty. Unfortunately, although the axe seems to be fine, the cool matching case was damaged during shipment :)mad:darn UPS....). Pete's trying to get me a replacement as we speak.

The textured back plates first appeared on the Bongo.

They have been on all the BFR JPs that have come through here.

They have been on all the regular JPs we have received since early September.

Cool huh? I was wondering when someone was gonna say something...

Mike, that's super! Congrats.

My 2007LE Bongo has a backplate like yours. Maybe, EBMM switched to this style.

Yeah - very cool. Are they metal or plastic? I haven't actually taken one off yet - just knocked on it with my knuckle. It feels like metal and it really does class up the back quite a bit.

Also, you have some email waiting for you. I need to know how to package up the case for pickup - ie: label, no label, etc.

Thanks Pete!

Awesome JP6, Mike. Blue Dawn is awesome. It used to be my first favorite color, but now it moved to 2nd since I got my MD JP6. Haha. My JP6 also has the metal backplates. I like them way more than the plastic ones.

Thats ironic Mike, UPS damaged my case as well but not to the point I needed to return it but you have to push the end to latch it, but the guitar was perfect and thats what counts:)

YES, mine have the new plates too. HUGE upgrade over the old ones. Better fit and finish. Buckle resistant. The birdseye on mine (Late Oct delivery) was extreme.

Do all the EBMM guitars now have the metal/brushed trem control covers?
