Need Help!

ok guys,
I have taken all of the strings off my music man luke, ready to give it a thorough polish an restring. BUT when i have gone to insert a new string there is a tiny piece of the last string inside the tuner hole and the new string wont fit through . What can i do to remove this? please please help

well from what i hear its not good to remove all the strings at once, replace them one at a time, are you new to ernie ball guitar? cause they have locking tuners , maybe that why you cant get the little peace of strings out.
but you can if you turn the sort of knob in back of the tuners to realese them.

use an extra clipping of the same gage string to push it through......have you unlocked the tunning key? What set of strings are you re-stringing it with? As guitarman mentioned removing all of the strings at once on a floating tremolo system guitar can really cause nightmares. You may want to consider taking it in to your local luthier and having him give it a quick set up and re-string.

hi thanks for the reply, i am new to ernie ball are the locking tuners the ones on the underside of the tuning pegs? if so what do i do with them >?

turn the counter clockwise to lossen them, then when you put the new set of string lock them back but not to tight, dont use any tools to tighten them. and you should be set. good luck

after removing the old string, loosen the thumbwheel screw in the back of the tuner of the string you are going to change. After inserting the string into the back of the tremolo plate in back and over the saddle (it is not necessary to remove the trem plate), run the string all the way up to the correct tuner. Re-tighten the thumbwheel screw until the string does not move out of the hole in the tuner (do not over-tighten) With a good pair of wire cutters, cut the excess string. Tune the string to pitch.

Hey no question is stupid and I asked the same thing almost a year ago when I bought my first Ball, and it does not hurt to take them all off when it needs a good cleaning, especially the fret board, but as a rule if you do not need to give the fretboard a good cleaning one string at a time is the way to go, now lets see some pics of this Ball

Actually it can be a bad idea to take all the strings off a guitar with a tremelo system at once. The strings provide resistance to the springs. When you take off the resistance (guitar strings) the trem block usually comes flying out either up or across the body This can be disastrous.

What I do when I feel my Luke needs some fretboard Wonder Wipe action is simply take a bottle cap from a 20oz Pepsi or Coke and fill it with pennies and put a piece of tape over the top to keep them from falling out. This gives the cap a tad more resistance and structural strength. Then I wedge it between the trem block and guitar body inside the trem cavity. It holds the springs from loosing all the opposing force and popping out and/or smashing a big ole dent in the top of the guitar.
