Well I was thinking that it would be cool if I had one in my Sub 1.... I wanted to know also if it would be hard to do it myself or would it be expensive to have it done professionally by a guitar tech....

G-punk,

Pick-ups are the MOST important aspect of "push/pull coil tap. You may want to keep that in mind before you modify a non-PPC tap set-up.:)

it's an easy job for an experienced repairer. My guitar only had 2 wires coming off the pickups and he just add an extra 2 an presto single coil sounds.

4 SiLOs with EMG 89 pups. Coil tapped via a push pull switch. I love it.

So I still didn't get the answer if it would be expensive to have the guitar tech do it for me????

You'll probably have to go into a few shops and ask what they'd charge. Every shop has a different bench rate. Although, they should be close to the same price. You shouldn't have to pay anymore than about $30-$40 +parts to install a push/pull and have it coil tapped.

Like TNT said coil tapping is very dependent on the humbucker you are tapping----most dont sound that great tapped--some are WAY better than others tapped. Me personally--I've never heard a tapped sound that I liked--YMMV!!
