I have no doubt that for most of you, this will be stating the obvious.
I have been reflecting on some of the information I have been given over the years, by various imposters in music retail outlets, here in Australia.
It is a such a great asset for players to be able to come here and get advice, and most importantly, the correct information on their instruments, straight from "the horses mouth"
I think retailers here are improving, but over the years, I have been told some absolute whoppers by guys who mean well... but know little.
A few examples.......I was told that my SR5 was an inferior model, because it was BLACK! (apparently, this was because they saved all the crappy wood for black ones!!?)
I was told (very recently ) that you could NOT get 2band sr4's... that it was just a myth!)
And ... (and this one really hurt, a bit later)
Iwas told that my old '76 Ray had some "after market" parts on it that werent original, and that mine was the 1013th produced.
(What this chap REALLY meant to say, was that those are what they call "radio knobs" and your bass is the 13th bass off the production line, NOT the 1013th)
I was, eventually brought 'up to speed' on this by the guy that I sold it to, not knowing what I really had.!
That is all water under the bridge, now......
But thank god for the era of good worldwide communication and for this fabulous site.
Its great to have it available to us.
