I'm ordering my do-it-all guitar, a Silhouette Special with:
- HSS pickups
- vintage trem
- piezo
- rosewood fingerboard
- matching headstock

I’m still up in the air on the colors, but the Top Three are:
1). Carbon Blue Pearl with Abalone pickguard
2). Graphite Pearl with Moonstone pickguard
3). Wait for 2008 LE

I've found some great pics of both 1) and 2) here on the boards. I really like both, and either is probably a sure thing.

Any advice, or pics you can share? I'm also still open to something different than what I've listed (e.g., Sapphire Black, Teal Pearl, Candy Red, or Desert Gold...those colors were the runners up). As much as I love Vintage Sunburst, Radiance Red and Blue Pearl, I have an SS, a Luke and an AL in those colors, so I'd be looking for something different.

Thanks!

The HSS setup is probably one of the most flexible setups you could get. It really makes the Silo a jack of all trades in terms of the tones you gan get out of it.

The only pics I have are of CBP with a white pearloid, maple neck, non-matching heastock. Still a killer combo. Of the two colors you've listed, I think the Graphite Pearl with Moonstone PG would really look great.

Graphite with moonstone HSS piezo tremolo is cool for sure... I like the HSS switching options on the Silo Special. Position 4 with the neck coil and one of the bucker coils is awesome! The only thing that has delayed my purchase of one is that I prefer 24 fret models (Although I do have an AL, Axis Sport, LUKE, and y2d). I'm sure a Silo Special is somewhere in my future, and that is one of the color combinations I would want, rosewood board included!

This one is NorM's and has a maple board. HSS piezo tremolo. Sharp looking instrument.

NorM's Silhouette, not yours!

This is what I'd get using your previous possibilities!

Here's a combination I'd seen in person!
It looks really sweet and the pics don't do it justice. I actually even liked it with the matching headstock!

If I was going to get another, I'd go for the graphite pearl or wait for the new '08LE. You already have one in one of the best colors going though, buttercream.

Mine really is my go to guitar. The HSS is so versatile. After seeing all of the talk about Morse and his pickup heights, I dropped the singles right to the pickguard and love the results. It's great to go from a nice distortion to a smooth lead tone without changing channels on the amp.

Along with the AL, I think the Silo Specs are one of the most underrated guitars EB makes. The piezo option on yours makes it even sweeter.

Great choice.

Thanks, Pete! My main axe these days is an HSS Silo SS with maple board. Pos 4 IS awesome, plus I love the neck pup by itself. After some comparisons, I decided the only way I think I could improve on my SS would be a rosewood board. Throw in the piezo, and if that guitar can't do it, it's not worth doing.

I actually thought I might want a 24-fret Silo (something different) in HSH, but I'm so happy with the 22-fret SS, why stray from it?

Colin, that combo appears to be a modern classic. CBP never did too much for me until last week, when I saw in person a CBP Albert with tort pickguard...absoutely beautiful.

Not to hijack my own thread, but tort seems to go with anything, doesn't it?

Lava Pearl, come on!

Rob, Lava Pearl made the short list, and only got dropped because all of the pics I've seen look kind of close to Rad Red, which I already have. Plus, I never came up with the magical pickguard combination....do you have any suggestions?

Also, I don't have anything in the grey or grey-blue arena, and I really like those colors. After seeing both in person, I'd buy a Carbon Blue Pearl or Graphite Pearl automobile in a heartbeat. Maybe EBMM can go the other way, and put guitar colors on cars!

Foggy, I was pretty much set on Graphite Pearl until I saw this very pic hear on the boards...breathtaking. What an awesome look!

Foggy and J-Nick,

You guys have thrown Graphite Pearl and Abalone into the mix, I hadn't even thought about that! That little bit of blue in the Abalone really makes that guitar pop. I have to add that one to the mix as well.

Thanks!

Thanks...I came at the EBMM line through the endorser models that everyone knows, but found MY guitar in the Silo Special.

Buttercream is awesome. Mine is an SSS; I'd throw an HSS pickguard on there and have my Number One just like that, but I really want the piezo on this one.

Regarding the 2008 LE, does anyone know if you can you get piezo with gold hardware?

those are tough choices. To help make things tougher have you considered BD w/ abalone?
