What is it about EBMM guitars in the way they're made that gives the guitars such incredible sustain?

I tried another JP6 in the store, as well as a luke and a morse, as well as my own JP6, and the sustain is phenomenal on all of them! But these are all bolt on guitars! Even acoustically, they sustain like mad! What's the secret? Why are EBMM guitars able to be made this well, when other brands have so much problems?

I know there's no paint between the neck and the body cavity, and it's a 5 bolt system, but hey, if it were so simple, why can't other brands do it?

I mean, Ibanez has to resort to a neck thru, and the sustain sometimes isn't even as good! And EBMM guitars have smaller bodies, meaning less mass, yet they sustain so well. Gibsons need a heavy body and a set neck construction and yet they don't always sustain so nicely.

So BP, what's the secret? Care to share?

bolt on and neck thru dont really have to do with sustain. A properly built bolt on will have as much sustain as a neck thru.

I am pretty sure that EBMM does all that through their great craftmanship and build quality. That is what i have seen in their guitars.
Also it is a design factor.

IMHO

Agreed that bolt-on doesn't mean less sustain. In fact, most of the through-neck guitars (not glued-on, but through-neck) I've played/owned have not been very lively.

I think it is because the guitars are designed with NO COMPROMISE... the components are top notch.... the neck pockets are very tight with no movement, the nuts are properly cut and the guitars are just solid from top to bottom....

Nah...no voodoo, mumbo jumbo or magic potions. None of that old-fashioned superstitious nonsense. Come on, people, this is 2007!

Isn't it obvious? EB is using a carefully engineered virus. The virus lays dormant in the fretboard until the guitar is played, whereupon it immediately infects the host causing a permanent change to the cerebral cortex, making the host believe that EBMMs are superior to all other guitars on the planet. It is incurable. The virus can also be spread from an infected host by word-of-mouth.

Now, if only they can invent a virus to make me play better...

must be something like that...because after my playing my axi (plural for axis), every other guitar feels dorky and stupid....and it sucks because I work in a music store with LOTS of very nice guitars....it's hard for me to tell my customer that his other guitars suck.
